Went along the Lurgies last night: little egret, osprey, peregrine, large numbers of dunlin and plenty of greenshank around. Sadly, the farmer had put a sign up on the entrance to Lurgies path. Asking all dog owners to keep their dogs on the lead. Recently someone's dog had spooked the cattle...

Just a quickie, cos i'm busy at work today - Went to Montrose Basin yesterday as there was a White Rumped Sandpiper on the go. Cracking little bird did eventually show but seemed incredibly shy. I am not sure if it is still around, but well worth a jaunt up the lurgies for a look. PM me...

The hide is an absolute beauty: that was my first time in it on sunday there. But the sanderlings and ringed plovers put on a great show in front of the hide - pedestrian and canine traffic permitting! Best take the scope for the scoters and divers, getting some height on the dune is helpful...

Gus, Not seen any of the waxwings either - feels like everywhere i go during daylight i am craning my neck wondering if this tree or that tree used to be covered in rowan berries. According to the Rare Bird Sightings Map, they are all heading south - much like my chances of seeing one this...

There have also been recent sightings reported of one ruddy shelduck up around Lintrathen/Backwater/Peel Farm... Is there any supporting evidence that we are currently experiencing an invasion or is it a mass break out? Happy Birding, k
