    Had an hour on Auchmithie beach, little to be seen, a few Herring Gulls, half a dozen Fulmars on the cliffs and some ducks to keep me company.

    Had a wander along Victoria Park sea shore at the top of the tide today, some kelp up on the shore was covered in Rock Pipits, Pied Wagtail, Starling, Redshank and Turnstones. A couple of Eiders amongst the Black headed gulls, but the water was quiet with little to be seen A few Herring Gulls...

    Looks like a Goldie to me, we did have Green Woodies in Montreathmont but they've moved, not seen or heard one this year, they need some open ground with Ants.

    Had a wander to a favourite spot for Short Eared Owls, none to be seen, but we did see a Kestrel, a rather late Wheatear and loads of Snipe and Jack Snipe on the wing as the light started to go.     My son was based at Kinloss at the time and we saw it a couple of times, he's moved now though, the army base(old RAF base) was a great place for wildlife, like a nature reserve.

    I'm old enough to remember them as breeding birds in Leicestershire where I grew up in the 1950's, we found the "larder " first, dead large beetles and a lizard impaled on a barbwire fence, the bird appeared some time later.
