Yes that was us. I knew I had seen you before somewhere but couldn't remember where. Maybe Kinnordy? I'm glad you got such nice views of the Barred Warbler, and some good photos too. I'd left my camera in the car, stupidly. Ken

Today I finally made it to the newish hide overlooking the Tayock Burn (by the railway station). The bushes along the track leading to the hide were alive with Blackbirds, Song Thrushes, Robins, Goldfinches, and I saw my first Redwing of this autumn. Unfortunately it was very misty and...

I took a walk out to Scurdie Ness this morning, hoping for some Lapland Buntings, but no luck. Like Gus yesterday, saw Wheatear, Pink-feet Geese, Skylarks (actually singing high up), Linnets and pipits. Also saw a couple of Stonechats which was nice, and flocks of Goldfinches. Interestingly...

The only breeding record I have is of 25+ stack nests at Lunan Bay on 17th June 2006. Angus and Dundee Bird Report 2006. Hopefully there will be others when the next edition comes out.

Just the one Delia, and very shy. Maybe it was embarrassed by the size of its beak. Only saw it for about 20 seconds, high up, but that was enough. I had Evelyn with me cos she wanted to see the pinetum at Scone. Sorry we didn't have time to stop in Blair, plus I don't know whereabout you...

One Waxwing in Arbroath today, on the Montrose Road, opposite the entrance to the Leisure Centre. Also another 4 in Forfar, at the North Road/Service Road junction, but stopping very awkward due to roadworks. One Lesser Black-backed Gull on Forfar Loch late afternoon.

I went to Forfar Loch today, and it was third time lucky. I found both the Bean Goose and the Whitefront, with the bonus of a flock of Redpolls in the trees by the car park. It was nice to see the Oystercatchers back inland again at the loch too. Lots of Bar-tailed Godwits, Grey Plovers and...

Super photos Rob. I was there yesterday, no sign of the diver or smew, but I did eventually find the scaup, who now has a mate as well. He was following her around everywhere. I checked most of the geese but couldn't see anything other than greylags.

I took a trip to Montrose Basin yesterday to dodge the torrential rain that Aberdeen was having. A walk along the Lurgies path to view The Slunks resulted in a nice mix of returning waders: 3 Greenshanks, about 20 Dunlin, some still in summer plumage, double figure count of Common Sandpipers...

Saw the Ring-billed Gull as well, a right poser. The smell of bacon rolls coming from the cafe drove me away (I'm a veggie!). o:D Went past Kinnordy twice but didn't stop (sorry Darell), as I was on my way to Lintrathen. Countless Wigeon, plus Mallards, Goldeneye, Whoopers (11), Northern...

This brings back memories. In my climbing days, many moons ago, we always referred to "a day on the hill" meaning going climbing, or just walking, in the mountains. We never used the word mountain, that was reserved for places like The Alps or The Himalayas or The Andes - proper mountains...
