    Dipper There is a dipper regularly in the River at Lynmouth, wonderfully visible on the boulders near where the two bridges are close from the pavement . I had never seen one under water before

    Thanks, Tom, your comments lead me now more towards Bar- tailed, especially since yesterday when up at Barnstaple on the Taw, towards Braunton I think(!) I saw 4 Black-tailed. As you say , taller more upright, two had orangey/rust on their necks and heads and were feeding in the mud.Also...

    Beautiful sight of barn owl hovering over hedge as I was driving home- 3-4 feet away.It hovered, flew a little way hovered some more, disappeared for a bit and so on for about 400yds. Made my day!

    Roy, I made it down to Isley Marsh just as the sun was setting and three spoonbills were just coming in to land by three more, so at least six are still about. Sue
