    Stood outside for 10mins last night at around 22:30 and listened to the night migration it was continuous, managed to pick out Redwing and Field Fare but there my expertise ends. Truly Magical!!

    A Red Kite over Clovelly Cross around Mid day today, tracked it as it few parallel with the A39 in the bude direction for about 1/2 mile before it dropped out of site into a valley.

    Cheers Roy! Any idea if its a male or female obviously one much easier to spot than the other. I'm in town tomorrow morning so i'll pop down it would make a cool birthday present for Sunday lifer for me. Only ever seen them in captivitie.

    My parent's live in Alwington and there are no bodies of water anywhere close, so what a surprise when a Water Rail turned up. Even more annoying I lived in that house for 26 years and not at any time did one oblige, I had to wait another 14 years to see my first and I had to travel to Slimbridge.

    Hi Roy I had them about 100 yards from where the road splits in 2 back toward Westward Ho!. I must admit it was a flying visit I had company my 10 year old son (Birding just aint cool!!). I suspect as the tide was at it's lowest a Purple Sand would have been a long shot.

    Managed to get the Snow Buntings this morning at Westward Ho! ( Jon you were right fantastic) so obliging they came within about 4 feet of me. 1 down 2 to go!!

    I've got a couple of days off and if I can convince the Kids it's a good idea I think i'll look out, bit of a bogey bird for me. I used to be able to tell them there was a chance of a Bear or Lions but they don't wear that anymore.

    As I am staying in the Dartmouth area for a week from next Saturday and the House Finch has reappeared at East Prawle I will be going to have a look I presume it is actually in the village itself. Any further info would be appreciated.

    Ok I went to Tamar Lakes yesterday no Hoopoe no real suprise there then but plenty of Chiffchaffs the first Willow Warbler and two late male Goosander on Lower Tamar. Drove back via Hartland Quay Ice Cream pit stop for the Kids and half an hour for me watching a pair of Peregrines.
