Good morning Andrew, Saw it at 1:45 yesterday and it was reported at again at about 5 PM. Note that the road from Sandford to Kennerleigh is closed, but is clear as far as Ashridge Farm. Park on the hard stand just before the farm buildings, then follow the track on the right for a couple of...

Have a look at this site - you'd be surprised what the Exe estaury turns up! http://www.dawlishwarren.co.uk/ Or this one - http://www.wildlifeindevon.org.uk/index.html - and Joe Ray's (see link on his posts) for Devon in general. Good birding Ken.

Hi Joe, The Little Crake has moved a short distance and is now beside the Anglers' car park (right by the canal). It was showing extremely well at about 5 PM from the bridge across the ditch looking towards Turf. So, keep nagging your parents!!! Good birding Ken.

I'm sorry, but my dear old granny always taught me that you can't call a hippopotamus ugly until you've asked another hippopotamus. ;) Good birding Ken.

Hi Reg, Take the B3212 from Mortonhampstead towards Postbridge. Follow this road till you get out on the moor proper. about 5 miles or so (I guess!) from Morton, you will pass a pub on the Right - this is the Warren House Inn. I drove past about 100 yards and parked in the Layby on the right...

Hi Joe, It was still there this afternoon, but viewing was difficult due to the patch of water it was on being partially obscured by trees and sundry undergrowth! If you park by the swing bridge at Countess Wear, walk down the canal on the left hand side and stay on the canal footpath till you...

Hi Daza, It was in that field yesterday and in fields on the road to Teigngrace where the pylons cross the lane (with a herd of cows). This morning it was right opposite the entrance to 12 oaks farm (just outside Teigngrace itself). Good birding Ken.

Sorry, not prepared to give an opinion on this - you're a birder and we all know what they're like! ;) But a Red-footed Falcon was reported on the IOW Saturday and Sunday near Bembridge. It would be nice to think one could be found within spitting distance of my house too. Good birding Ken.

Steve I remember going on an evening pelagic out of Torquay some years ago, I can't remember all the birds we saw as I wasn't bothering to list in those days, but Sabine's and Stormy were definately there. probably just needs someone to organise it and there'd be plenty of takers, I'm sure...

I'd like to repeat what Mark said as regards Perry and arranging access - thanks Perry. I'd like to add too that I got talking to the farmer this afternoon and he seems a great bloke, only too happy to let people see the bird, let's not have people abusing his hospitality - park sensibly (drive...

Hi all, Had a trip up to the Warren House myself this afternoon, hoping to see Harriers coming into roost. No luck I'm afraid, but did get a nice Goshawk fly overhead and down into Soussons plantation - some consolation anyway!! Good birding Ken.

Hi all, At Exminster marsh, the drake Green-winged Teal was on the large pool beside the car park up till dusk today and was viewable from the canal tow-path. Still no sign of the Falcated duck though. Good birding Ken.

At last. After leaving work at 3:45 this afternoon I headed straight to Newton Abbot to try and catch up with the Laughing gull. tried Enigma and Wharf Road, then walked to the Quay and around the general area - didn't see a gull! On the way home I thought I'd try the Passage House Inn, even...

Hello again Firecrest!!!! Follow directions for Passsage House Inn above, except, don't turn off for the pub, carry on along the main road. At the next roundabout take the first exit, you pass Halfords and Matalan on the left, then a mini roundabout for the racecourse on the left and Tesco on...

Passage House Inn. From Torbay follow the A380 till you cross the River Teign, then take the exit towards Newton Abbot. You climb a short rise, then straight across a mini roundabout. As the road drops down, you come to another roundabout, left here, then 200yds further on you turn left...

Unfortunately no! It had gone by the time I'd managed to get there just after midday. Stuffed itself with Hovis then went off somewhere to let it digest. As Mark says, worth watching the Teign estuary and Decoy Lake over the next couple of days. (Though the way things are going, it's more likely...

Left home at 6:30 this morning in thick fog, heading for Dartmoor. As I drove up onto the moor from Okehampton, the fog cleared, giving a completely cloudless sky. My destination was Hangingstone Hill, about 6 km from Okehampton military training camp, reached by a single track road, that is to...

It's just below where the Tamar and Tavy meet, on the opposite side of the river to Landulph. My map reading is pretty crap, but around map reference SX445610. Hope it stays for the weekend. Regards Ken.

Last seen drifting towards Dawlish (away from the Warren). I shall be giving Dawlish itself more than a cursory glance after I leave work tomorrow. I've already looked for it around the Teign Estuary!!! Good birding Ken.

A sorry tale Perry, after the "guided tour" you gave us last Monday, I'm sure this jewel of a site will hold some excellent birds in the future - however, thanks to the thoughtless behaviour of a small minority, most of us won't see them. I hope the farmer isn't too much out of pocket. Regards...

The Spot sand was still there at Upper Tamar Lake today, but required a walk to the top end of the reservoir. It was very active and moving frequently from one side of the lake to the other. Also 1 Curlew Sand from the dam and two Dunlin. After a bite to eat at home I dropped down to the point...
