Not unheard of Graham but very late nonetheless. Great sighting, well done. The latest I've seen was on the south Devon coast at Soar Mill Cove years ago, I think around 4th December. Apart from that I can't remember seeing one as late as yours. You might want to report it on the Devon News... -

Prawle Point Did a four hour seawatch this morning. Best were 7 Balearic Shearwaters, 95 Manx, Great Skua and 7 Arctic Skuas. Also one Harbour Porpoise. -

Charleton Marsh / Bay Lovely walk down to the hide on Charleton Marsh this evening. Very high tide, no wind and perfect light. 15 Med Gulls on the estuary has to be a record count for here. No terns and few waders though. Adult and juvenile Coot in the channel below the hide an unexpected... -

Kingsbridge Estuary Did Geese Quarries to Charleton Marsh this morning. Very quiet and very windy away from the shelter of Frogmore Creek. Only highlight a couple of pale-bellied Brent Geese -

Beesands Ley Birds seen on the WEBS count this morning included 26 Mute Swans, 87 Canada Geese, 91 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 4 Wigeon, 94 Pochard, 36 Tufted Duck, 3 Scaup ( fems ), Red-crested X Tufted Duck hybrid, Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe and Water Rail. -

On the Kingsbridge Estuary this morning did the walk from Curlew Drive to Charleton Marsh. A proper snow shower on the way around and icy patches. Went ass over tit bottom of Curlew Drive. Optics and Bones ok, looked around and don't think anyone saw me, phew. The birding was no great shakes... -

Kingsbridge Estuary Did the Geese Quarries - Charleton Marsh circuit on the rising tide this morning. Although winter thrushes very evident ( Redwing / Fieldfare split 90/10% ) not massive numbers. Many Song Thrushes as well. Only 2 Golden Plover and a Lapwing seen but plenty of snipe in places... -

Saw c100 Lapwings heading southwest in four groups near South Brent in 40 minutes early afternoon. A few hundred winter thrushes ( mostly redwing, maybe 90%) heading southwest near Salcombe towards dusk. Not much compared to elsewhere in Devon but hopefully some can rest up and feed here as it... -

I did not notice any sign of any cold weather movement around Kingsbridge this morning. Quite a few mobile Redwings around Rattery and almost drove into a snipe flying across the A38 near Marley Head. 3 Goosander on the R. Avon below Loddiswell not unusual -

Hello James, personally have yet to see anything too noticeable around the South Hams albeit working and not birding but early days yet if this cold spell keeps up. Re the Waxwings guess it needs more than just cold weather for these but it would be nice. -

Slapton Ley Had a walk around Ireland Bay this morning. The Long-tailed Duck was off the old pillbox. Also Pintail, 4 Goldeneye and a Kingfisher. On getting back to Slapton Bridge the Marsh Harrier flew south overhead. -
