Hi All I have been contacted by a Cezch birder who will be coming to the Torbay area in mid/late April. He is particularly interested in seeing some seabirds (coming from a landlocked country!). I have been able to give him some very general information about sites that might be good for him to...

Hi Paul Ford Park Cemetery and Devils Point (towards Devonport) are also worth a look. Nuthatch in the city is a bit tough as far as I know although central park might be an option. Mount Batten/Jennycliffe (foot ferry from the Barbican) are also good (Med Gull) There are some good sites not...

2 flew over my garden in Wembury at about 7.15 this morning, circled and went back North (just like Redwings always do at that time of the morning). I'm not going to get a chance to check any suitable habitat before the weekend but there must be a few on their way given the numbers up north. O

Hi all Random sighting of the day from Wembury in the form of two Slav Grebe (my first grebe of any variety here). One was almost in full summer plumage but the other was a little further behind. Hi In the far South West of the South Hams, Redwing numbers are not too bad with some good numbers still moving at night. Fieldfare numbers are very low highlighted by the fact that my first for the autumn in the garden was only last week and I have seen no more than 30 or so in total O

Thanks for the replies - fewer Song T proportionally last night and a single Blackbird. Finally be able to find out tomorrow if any of them have grounded.... Perry, I'm only a short distance migrant from accross the border in Somerset but it is nice to have some salty water that actually looks...

Thrush Movements Hi all Being fairly new to Devon I have a question about thrush movements. Over the last three days there has been the first good Redwing passage over Wembury (5-6 calls/minute). The thing that has surprised me has been the number of Song Thrush in with them (about 30% of...

RC Starling Hi all I found a juv Rose-coloured Starling this evening in Wembury on the wires near the pub (Crooked Wheel). It flew off after a couple of minutes after I found it I assume to roost as other Starlings were already going in at 7. I'll look for it early tomorrow morning. O
