    First day out after a few weeks hard work and went to Tamar Lakes. amonst the highlights Reed Bunting Great Crested Grebe GoosanderMarsh Tit Long Tail Tit On the way home I stopped to finish my thermos of coffee near Black Torrington and saw a Treecreeper. Not bad a bad day.

    Marsh or Willow Everytime I see a Marsh Tit I have assumed it is exactly that. I was just curious though, could it be a Willow Tit? Has anyone seen Willow Tits in Mid Devon?

    1st Feb Wrafton Pond - Braunton: Red Crested Pochard, looks very well settled amongst the mallard, 6 Tufted Duck as well. It was nice to see the Lapwing (around 50) and Golden Plover driving into Braunton.

    Torrington: Tawny Owl in trees just of the main Bideford Road. Weare Gifford: Spotted 5 swans from the main road, I could not stop and dont know if they are the Whopper Swans, they are (or were) on the far bank if you are looking from Weare Gifford at the Torrington end of the village...

    Stafford Moor Fishery I went looking for Tufted Ducks, but there were 2 1/2 pairs of Mallards, as I turned to walk back to there was a Kingfisher flying across one of the pools, first one I have seen for a while.

    I was driving home on the old Barnstaple to Exeter road and got to New Bridge (just the other side of Bishops Tawton) and I thought I saw a Black Swan in amongst a group of 4 Mute Swans. I could be wrong but I was driving. Not a great find I know but I has anyone else seen one in the area?

    A Spotted Redshank at Fremington Quay. 5 Spoonbills, 12 Turnstones and several Wigeon at East Yelland Marsh on the estuary. 2 Waxwings feeding at Fishleigh Road, Roundswell, Barnstaple, close to Pearce Construction offices.
