Both Song and Mistle thrush have started singing in the last few days where I am, most often around dawn and dusk. Nightingale will be in sub-Saharan Africa at present, and do not sing on their wintering grounds.

Not the most inspiring report, must likely duff. No mention of the Eleonora's falcon reported from Cley yesterday either, I guess that is part of the now expected pattern of summer "records"! ;)

Hi Ron, it's a newly created complex of pools to the east of Wells at approximately TF 93188 43329. If you look on google maps, you can see the waterbodies on the aerial photography. I've not been since it's creation, but it sounds like an excellent area, viewable from the N.N. Coastal footpath...

Well, the weather paid off today. Kieran, Ian and I located a second rbf fly at Warham at lunchtime, whilst Stiffkey produced a minimum of 3 yb warbler and an interesting call that sadly we were unable to follow up on. Overnight rain and more easterlies could make for another good days birding...

Holkham 1975: Yellow browed bunting, black throated thrush, OBP, Izzy shrike, multiple yb, pallas's, radde's and Dusky warbler. Perhaps more... Here's hoping for a repeat!

It's looking absolutely seismic this weekend, can anybody remember such a good chart? I had planned on coming back next weekend, but I have suddenly found myself seeing friends and relatives in the fine county this weekend. Could it be a repeat of '75? Or even '94 for us younger viewers? Best of...

Don't take it to heart, there are enough friendly folk on here who are more than happy to divulge information and don't require acknowledgement. Some of our "experts" still struggle with ID - ^buzzards ^ - and delete posts off of blogs when their ID is corrected - almost always with no...

Cheers Phil & James, I wasn't aware of this. I generally don't keep lists, so as a result I don't always keep up to speed with BOU/BBRC. It's certainly a distinctive looking bird, would be interested in seeing images of females from the same region. All the best.

Hi James, I believe Eastern Black redstart from Wells has recently been accepted too (November 2003)? Cheers.

If anybody managed any photos of the Radde's (of any quality) at Brancaster I'd be extremely grateful. Just putting notes together for the description. Ta.

Cracking couple of days with Kieran, Kayn & Connor. Highlights included gwe, 3 seo's, leo, 5+ rouzel 5+ ybws including 3 together at one site. The main damage was done yesterday pm when we picked up a Radde's on call on Brancaster. Despite erronious directions going out, I believe it was seen...

Some potential for an easterly airflow developing from next weekend, perhaps a bit too early to call though. I'm back in the fine county from next sunday, if anybody fancies some saltmarsh bingo and suedea bashing drop me a PM...

Any details on Caspian reed warbler in Norfolk in recent days? Dawn B picked up on this on RBA twitter feed, just wondered if any regulars knew anything? Looking forward to spending some time birding back in the fine county this weekend, shame I've missed the easterlies...

Some decent birds found today, more of the same tomorrow? Friday could be very interesting if the rain ticks overnight on thursday. Good luck fellow Norfolkians, spare a moment for us marooned in the central belt...

You're not the only one... Thanks for that Dawn, it'll be interesting to find out whether it is string, suppression or other. Only time will tell. Out of interest I wonder how long that Dusky warbler was hanging around Lynford for a year or two ago...;)

Anybody know of a singing Pallas's warbler in "west Norfolk"? Per LRGE on twitter so I am told. Still a few Willow tits about in the Brecks, many not submitted at county level, but details are passed to BTO. I've never seen one in Swaffham mind.

No problem, apparently taken in norfolk "recently" but the photo has since gone astray... That in itself probably says more than I have to! All the best.

I may be able to clear up some of the mis-information regarding news of a Desert wheatear. Yesterday afternoon I received a message on facebook from a friend who was asking my opinion on a bird's ID. He suspected one of the rarer wheatears but had touted black eared. The image he sent me was...

Radde's found by RDM, he really is reaping the rewards by hammering that area. Hope it is still there for interested parties tomorrow.

Not sure how easy the dusky is to see, we tried briefly the other day, but twitching is not my bag so didnt try for more than an hour and no sign in that time. With regads to its location I believe it is in the hedge next to the old brickworks east of the clifftop car park at west runton. Hope...

Phew what a day; found a sibe chiffer (it even called!) and several xbill early doors at Deepdale, then onto gun hill where I booted 2 mealy redpoll and a YBW out of the sueda, before a second appeared a bit further towards Holkham. Recieved news that Rob had found a Pallas's warbler at Holkham...

Sunday looks best if the forecast is anything to go by, loads of birds about today (thrushes, robins, goldcrest and finches) and our collective haul included leach's petrel, rouzel and 2 firecrest, though sadly we drove right past the rustic about 20mins before it was located. Ilm sure when the...

Hi Mark, my fingers are crossed for the end of the week, too early to be certain yet, but I think several of us will be in "attack mode" for friday. Here's hoping I find something better than YB this autumn...
