According to the Daily Mail, it was the over use of foreign deodorant cans, applied by illegals. Also, it's likely to give you cancer and decease the value of your home. Hope everyone one is well and getting a few birds, Kieran

There was also the controlled explosion on Blakeney Point, the morning that a Parrot Crossbill was reported at Stiffkey (13/10/13). The explosion rattled your teeth, even from where we were stood. They say it comes in threes, so let's hope that this is the end of such incidents. Kieran

You're madder than a shit-house rat, Josh, but it's something to read of an evening at least. By the way, Josh, are you in Thailand? Why didn't you mention it before? *insert sarcastic face here* Slow up on the gear our kid, and stay beautiful xx

An incredible 24 Moorhen recorded on the patch this morning, with a group of 17 feeding close together on Kelling Water Meadow. The rest were north of the duck ponds at Salthouse. Smashing my site record. Highlights of a hurried morning -trying to beat the rain- were a Slavonian Grebe mid-way...

Just back from a successful litter pick at Kelling. We managed 7 full refuse sacks of rubbish. Everything from Mars Bar, Nescafe, Maxwell House and Walkers were noted on the resident front as well as a vagrant Goud Appel carton, nice! Other items of note included an Orange toilet seat; I mean...

Salthouse/Kelling/Weybourne Past Glories Hello guys, If anyone has any photos of past rarities between Salthouse's Beach Road and Weybourne's Beach Lane, that they wouldn't mind me using (fully credited of course) then could you please PM me. Also, if you can think through any 'good' birds up...

Hey guys, We, as all of you must be are still in disbelief at the extent of damage to our coastline, wildlife and people's property. I just wanted to extend an offer of mine and my wife's help in any cleaning up or help people need along the coast in any way whatsoever. If anyone needs, or...

The Common Gull was ringed at Wismar Bay on the Baltic coast in 2004. It was noted by R.Porter 2005, E.Myers 2008 and yourself, John, in January of this year. Keep us updated on the BHG, John. Cheers, Kieran

German ringed Common Gull There has been a darvic ringed Common Gull at Salthouse last couple of days and from a small bit of research the bird is from one of the German schemes.I am just waiting to get the exact details of where the bird was ringed and how old it is from the scheme leader...

Comparing two situations that you seem to know very little about, Bilvo, not wise. Presumptions like this about peoples birds is one of the biggest problems in the scene, in my opinion. With the class of observers that watch the gull roost at Cley, I would be very surprised if this Thayer's...

Hey Quentin, From what I hear, the birds were seen by a very reliable source from the carpark of the country park this morning. If it's directions your after, the entrance to the park is around 1/3 of the way between Holt and the village of Edgefield (arriving from the Holt side) and is...

Thanks Willow', This is and will continue to be an interesting topic. I'm very much glad that we have had some real stonkers this year and not just this one individual. If anything, at least it has allowed us to discover a little bit more about both species extremes. Cheers, Kieran

Willowgrouse, Maybe you would be kind enough to elaborate on your thoughts of these features. Also, unfortunately, the female that I linked to is not in a position to be showing us any tertial pattern. There is a heavily marked skin in the British Birds paper (here) which may help for...

I think you have raised a very important point. You don't have to search far to find a few birds which show similarly worn greater and lesser covert bars. The Cley bird, for example, (which was a 1st summer) showed equally worn retained wing feathers and the greater coverts bar in-particular...
