Just a suggestion... type your post in a Word type document then 'cut and paste' it into your web browser. You'll find it's much better on the ol' blood pressure... :storm: Atb, James

Josh, 'sawadee-kap'... :t: (don't make this gesture!) I've been suppressing everything and seeing nothing. Watch out for those big snakes in the bamboo patches... :eek!: Atb, James

That was kinda my initial reaction Jim. Nice find for Stuart but it's ID could prove to be quite contentious... Atb, James

Stu, Rob, Pat et al... The current work on Rush Hill is, I believe, a part of the Hickling Wetland Creation Scheme, a summary of which can be found here plus further reading (you'll have to search a bit!) here. The scrape has been drying out since the Spring and has been more than disappointing...

Compare your bird with this one photographed in 'The Broads' (click & scroll down) on July 9th. Perhaps there's a lone bird summering in Broadland. Plenty of hiding places... James

The Norfolk Bird Report 2008 lists one at Thetford on March 1st. My personal earliest is March 7th... Attached is a sign I saw in a field edge recently; I'm sure many Norfolk (and beyond) BFers will instantly recognise the style. Although I completely agree with the message delivered by the...

Hi Richard, Sorry to hear you were having a bad day, hope all's well now. Yep, bad days are sh1t, I get them too so know what you mean! But, hey-ho, my post reflected how I was feeling when I read yours. I do however entirely retract the 'immaturely' caveat without reserve. To be honest, I was...

Really?!? That's not how I read it. To me Ron's being most helpful; he tells of a Smew, he also tells us that there's been a report of a Red-breasted Merg - a very good bird for Whitlingham CP or any inland Norfolk waterway for that matter. It just so happens he didn't see it. Thanks for the...

Anyone 'do' any counts of movement over the sea today? There were a few rafts of Wigeon offshore here in the NE with the odd Mallard, Goldeneye and small numbers of Brent. One Wigeon raft numbering c.140 had two Barnacle Geese floating in their midst. Knot and Redshank were also a little unusual...

There's been a flock there for three days I believe Tony. I'm not sure how many are in the Broads at the moment but perhaps it's likely that the Titchwell birds are some of those which arrived in the UK with last Autumn's 'grey' Goose influx and are now reorientating eastwards... Atb, James

Similarly, there were two Skylark in song at Happisburgh on Sunday and a local Marsh Tit was also singing for a mate/proclaiming his territory on Monday. Not that it's much of a song. A Siberian blast would really be most welcome for as well as birds and insects, many plants really need to...

Ben - on a recent visit to Buckenham there was a party of 7 Barnacles feeding amongst the Taiga Beans and I wondered if you knew whether the feral ones ever split into smaller groups and joined fully wild Geese? James

Didn't bother.... Thought it'd probably have gone by the time I arrived.... :-O Merry Christmas to one and all! James Just an afterthought... Perhaps we should tether the blubbery beast to the shore to give [most ;)] Norfolk listers a chance of gripping back Ivory Gull. It's a long time...
