Dusk light performance relative to weight, NL Pure 10x32 vs 10x42

@Declan Joseph Deasy Good point, however in winter, everything is frozen here, sea included. So maybe it is better to weigh up greater ease of use for long trips in summer against the occasional bird in winter. To be honest, I have absolutely no idea. But this thread provided me with loads of...

Dusk light performance relative to weight, NL Pure 10x32 vs 10x42

So, back from skiing in Sjaunja. Yes, I would agree, 200 grams in a backpack, resting on your hip is not directly comparable to 200 grams more in a binocular. The binos hang from your neck, might be swinging around, bouncing etc. So I'm not sure if just saving up on body weight might be a good...

Dusk light performance relative to weight, NL Pure 10x32 vs 10x42

Hm, the idea of a Habicht sure would be intriguing, however I think a combination of my current 8x30 with a 10x42 would yield higher combined utility than a 7x42 + 8x30. But then, I have never had the chance to even look AT a Swaro Habicht, let alone though one. A 10x50 sounds absolutely...

Dusk light performance relative to weight, NL Pure 10x32 vs 10x42

Interesting! I hadn't directly considered the interaction of magnification and factors such as the eye box before.

Dusk light performance relative to weight, NL Pure 10x32 vs 10x42

Yes, absolutely. On the one hand, I know that if weight was really an issue, I could always take the lighter Nikon. However, weight is only an issue if I am out for several weeks. But then spending so much time outside is exactly when I want to have the good optics as I will be using it...

Dusk light performance relative to weight, NL Pure 10x32 vs 10x42

@Paultricounty That was a bit what I hoped for! Though I now realize that my initial post was a bit unclear in that I am choosing between the 10x32 and 10x42, both as an addition to my current 8x30. However I think your statement about small differences in low light performance will also apply...

Dusk light performance relative to weight, NL Pure 10x32 vs 10x42

@Stuarts vision you mean that the added weight is not wort the marginal increase in FOV? While I would be tempted to agree, the FOV difference isn't really an issue at all for me. Both are more than large enough!

Dusk light performance relative to weight, NL Pure 10x32 vs 10x42

Hello everybody, My current setup includes (among an age old spotter) a Nikon Monarch M7 8x30. So the the needs for a light weight bino are covered. However, I want to include an additional bino into the mix and decided on the NL Pure. Living in Norther Scandinavia, low light performance is...
