    Plenty of Golden Orioles and Nightingales in Petite Camargue, just few km north of Basel, and all along the Rhine. Little Egrets are nesting too. Within an hour drive of Basel there are breeding Bee-eaters, Stone Curlews, Cattle Egrets, Red Partridges - along the Rhine in France and Germany.

    For me Merlin regularly picks birds which I am certain are not in the area and not called - recently Grey Wagtail in the middle of the forest and American Pipit in Basel. Merlin recently progressed to 'helps more than wastes your time' but still needs to be treated with a grain of salt.

    Lesser Scaup on Rhine near Kembs in Germany / France, and was seen commuting south towards Swiss border just few km away.
