Hi Karl, we had a good walk around Punta de n'Amer 2 weeks ago (even to the very tip for a bit of a sea watch) and returned via the Monument and near the castle. We heard then saw a Balearic Warbler in the scrub. This spot is very close to Cala Millor. Good luck 🤞 Cheers, Ian

Now back in the UK. My No 1 target bird was Quail, but after 7 visits to Maria de la Salut and Vilafranca not one bothered to pop up it's head nor make just a short flight 😔, not at 6 am, 1 pm, 6 pm. Ok, I/we heard it a dozen times in several places along the ways, but for me that wasn't enough...

Arrived Saturday pm and then off to Maria de la Salut almost immediately. Got to see Red-footed Falcon but no Lesser Kestrel. TonyCath gave me a good route which enabled me to see 2 x Greater Short-toed Lark (Thanks Tony) which is a Lifer (Bimbo) for me. Heard 4 Quail but no sightings. Also 1...

Hi Jonny. If you go to Reception and take your Passport or Driving Licence, and give your phone number, you can apply to visit Albufera out of hours. They will give you a pass for the rest of the year. You can then visit before it opens, but the rules have now changed and you can no longer visit...

A 2 hour stint sea watching very close to Porto Colom lighthouse this p.m. Immediately saw a Gannet flying north, quite close in, followed by another one a minute later. Balearic Shearwater were travelling the other way in singles, then gradually building up in smallish groups. The larger...

Yes, definitely, a lovely walk. I did it again yesterday. Saw a few Thekla Lark. Also Shag on S'Illot des Porros. Nearly always Andouin's Gull too. There are a few ways to enter the Son Real estate from the beach. You can also walk up the Torrent Son Baulo as there is a proper path up as far as...

Arrived in Pollença very late last night. And up early too, but rainy weather this a.m so basically I had 2 choices? Birding or ............ Birding. So, off to Magaluf and bumped into Pablo, who suggested we walk to the other side of the pond, and we eventually located and got a few good views...

Ref Phil A: One of the birds was carrying nest material and I think I saw one bird slip underneath a roof tile? so maybe they`re nesting in the roof? Who knows, at least it might answer the question why are they always seen on the same roof of the same house. They did nest there last year and I...

This is very interesting news Håkan. Thanks for posting. Surely all birders who live in or visit Mallorca will be interested in this article? i.e That Balearic Shearwater and Yelkouan Shearwater become one species in Sweden. I wonder if any other countries will follow suit in the future? I'm...

I want this to be a Scaup for you Derban but having seen a few Scaup (M + F) recently and having heard very knowledgeable birders recently 'not agreeing' on whether it is a Tufted Duck or Scaup we are looking at I have learnt to be cautious on this matter. I hope I'm wrong but it looks a Tufted...

Hi, I've deleted my original post about the Whinchat/Stonechat in light of the comments above. The Chat I saw in December 22 had a very prominent whitish supercilium (much more so than in the photo above). So could I still have seen a Whinchat?
