Poll - Do you agree or disagree with the AOS's recent decision to abandon the use of eponymous bird names?

David Lindo expresses what many of us have said, that he never bothered to look at the the people behind the names, so, again, where is this 'barrier to inclusion', said to be created by eponyms? JvR also states how toxic this has been and that older birders have been generally side-lined...

Pygmy has or will go the same way along with Oriental. Who is pushing this agenda on a global level, someone must be?

Poll - Do you agree or disagree with the AOS's recent decision to abandon the use of eponymous bird names?

Where is this? I've seen the ridiculous article on the BBC but nothing else until you mentioned it, perhaps your chance to shine and start a thread of your own?

Poll - Do you agree or disagree with the AOS's recent decision to abandon the use of eponymous bird names?

Many of the proponents of this move, continue to use the above statement, to support it, you need a different argument. The issue for most opponents, is the reason for the change, the shifty way it was pushed through and the way that BN4B et al, have taken it upon themslelves to moralise on our...

And many of the changes are due to alignment with other authorities so nothing to do with Colonialism.

Poll - Do you agree or disagree with the AOS's recent decision to abandon the use of eponymous bird names?

The AOS case is patently faulty as eponyms pose no, tangible barrier to non whites, getting involved in birding as they insist they do. Their case, fails on its face. The arrogance of the AOS in insisting that they know better than the majority of birders, is breathtaking, utterly, morally...

Paul, it would incure Lord Dennings wrath, Master of the Rolls as he then was (I think?), if this had been an exclusion clause, it would get a slap with the 'red hand rule' ;)
