Hi Viraj, how are you going along with the Habicht 7x42 after a couple of months? You still like it? Is it way better than the NL 8x42 in low light? Just curious :). -

I don't really like the rainguard coming with the leatherette Habicht 8x30 (probably also with the 7x42 and 10x40.) I can't really use it as a "rainguard", because I always have to reset the eyepupil distance of the binoculars afterwards. Any ideas what would be a more usable rainguard? (More... -

Do you think the GA versions are more comfortable in use (especially the eyecups) or do you prefer the lighter leatherette? Or are they both nice the way they are? I like higher powers, so I am not so sure. But the larger exit pupil, the more DOF and the more 3D view are all appealing. -

Interesting. Probably sample variance. Not a good thing when the focuser of a 10 power is very stiff, but Swarovski can fix it. Anyways, you will only keep the 7x42 :). So the small AFOV doesn't really bother you? You even kind of like that, don't you? I am still interested. I have the SLC... -

Why?? :) Why do you want the 10x40 GA back? (And if you are selling it this time, I might be interested :). I like my 8x30 a lot. Very sharp and close by I see some of this 3D view, but not much. Veiling glare doesn't still bother me much. I see it, but is not really bothering me. The 2mm extra... -

Haha, I am sorry! It is an expensive hobby... that's for sure. I have to say I like the 8x30 so much, I might go for a 7x42 or 10x40 as well, one day. Probably a GA version. The idea of this very smal afov of the 7x42 really puts me off. But I have not looked through one, so maybe it is not as... -

I figured I sometimes use my thumb to focus. Or both my thumb and index finger. Still, the focuser is not ideal but not a big problem either. One reason why I went with 8 power instead of 10 -> less focusing needed because of the DOF. The focuser of the NL is a dream. :) Two?? o_O The 7x42 and... -

So... is an Habicht suitable for bird watching? I actually think the Habicht 8x30 is! But still hoping the focuser will get a bit less stiff in the future. No problems with the eyecups anymore. Glare doesn't bother me still. I will answer this question in a couple of months again... -

Do you also have some sort of "solution" to make the eyecups of the Habicht 8x30 more comfortable? Or is it no issue for you? I just ordered some 2mm thick o-rings. Let's see if they make the eyecups about 1-2mm longer. -

Thanks! Yes, very charming. I like it a lot. Eyecups just a little bit too short and the focuser a bit too stiff imo. But I can live with that and both can be solved probably. I was having a hard time deciding which of the three I'd want, but the size pulled me over the line. -

I changed 32 to 30 in the quote :). Is there a reason why you have the green eyecups on the 7x42 and not on the 8x30? I'd like to try these rubber extensions as well. Probably hard to find out where you exactly bought them? I think I will try this o-ring trick first. If I can add 1 or 2 mm... -

Can I say (more or less) that the Habicht 10x40 is as bright as an alpha 10x42 (because of it's high transmission) and the Habicht 8x30 as an alpha 8x32? What do Habicht owners say when they compare them? In daylight the Habichts are brighter I expect, because the pupil is smaller than the exit... -

That's really a good deal! Tempting... But still, I see more use for the 8x30 for me as a compact/lightweight bin. For longer distances I have the EL 12x50 and the NL 10x32. The SLC 8x42 is my lowlight bin. The Trinivod 8x20 is my pocket bin, always have it with me but not really comfortable... -

But why? Worst than the 10x40 and 7x42 Habicht? Of course, all the other Swarovksi's are more modern, with smoother focusers and more comfortable eyecups.
