The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

I don't put any weight on Albino's...strictly facts and pretty technical stuff that belongs more in a lab than in in the field. Try them out...test the bins. Feel the bins....use em. That is how I determine which one to buy

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Totally different bins… I like both but ergonomics differ for each. Try them

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

True, experiences differ. Although I have never had an issue with Leica, or Zeiss or Opticron. Interesting eh?😀 I think GPO HD line-up is surely more solid and with more QC and has higher expectations than the poor quality ED line. I doubt seriously if any extensive QC even exists with the ED...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Not a slip up in QC…. GPO is fully aware of problem. A few years ago I talked to Jensen on the phone ( when I returned a binocular) and essentially he stated they as a company accept the lose/goofy focus wheel. This awareness and failure to address is a red flag to me as what other issues are...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

How much 'play' is in the focus wheel of the GPO? That is a huge problem in just about all of them that I have tried and have to wonder how much that existing 'play' will continue and broaden as the bin ages. "THAT" to me is the difference in quality that might be small....might be overlooked by...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

What is the length of the NL 8x32 compared to the 8x42? Why do si want that large of a 8x32 bin if Such an expansive FOV isn’t important ?

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

I am with you.....that large footprint of the NL just isn't worth the wider FOV.... To me, a person buys a 8x32 for size. If they want that wide FOV, why get a 8x32 with that size/dimension. Why not just get the NL 8x40 for the same size?

Nice… the type of practical review I was looking for

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

I have seen a few on Ebay etc.... Was tempted. Just never pulled. I have heard these are good and yes, they are a bit larger in length and weight than what I prefer, but I would do this 'larger' pair of 8x32's over the NL for sure.. But cost wise...I think this guy is a bit over priced at close...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Dennis...to copy a post I placed in another discussion: A trend toward smaller bins… YES… THiS is where Swaro missed with the 8x32 NL. Their R&D concentrated on developing a bin with a ‘ more than needed ‘ FOV and while they did that, the consumer demand on 7-8x 30-32 shifted from FOV to...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

FOV…. How much does one really need. I look at my Retro and wow… looks good to me. Why do I need the NL mile wide view? ( and the size and the $$$)

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

My point… too heavy, too large… more the size of a full size bin. So a deal breaker for me + the $$$$.

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

What is the size of the NL 8x32? 5.7””….. too long for a compact 8x32. Swaro missed the mark. They have a beautiful binocular, just too big
  16. lmans66

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

To me… there is a weight/size that makes a binocular too small in size, too light. Example… the MHG. I am sure the SLF will be in that category. They seem ‘toylike’… The other end of spectrum is big and heavy. This is why I like the Meostar b1 series or the Leica Ultra or Retro. They fit right...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

I stand corrected without myself actually looking up the starts. But what I do know for a fact is that the retro feels ‘smaller’ than 8x40

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Size and weight ; the retro more equal to a 8x30.

Should include the Leica 7x35 in this comparison
