    Above 17x you need a tripod. 17x however for a Quick look is oke without for me.

    You can handle 17x without tripod, above that you need a tripod or a steady surface to support.

    As far as I know the fysical dimensions are the same, internals not.

    I have had an ATC for a few days , but decided for a STC. Used it on the coast and in the forest and swamp area. Can easily compete with an ATX or ATS 65. Much wider FOV at all magnifications, razor sharp and very easy view. EXCELENT scope.
