Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

This is my beloved Meopta 12x50HD. Optically it is my best binocular. It has been modified by removing the original eye cups and replacing them with rubber hose connectors. This gives me that extra mm or so for even better eye comfort with glasses. My 12x50HD has sufficient, but not great, eye...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

I do agree 100% with GColes post. For me the eye cups are great. With and without glasses. The B1 Plus has a new armor. I prefer the previous B1.1 armor. On my 12x50HD I have the new armor and a perfect focuser. There can be a little slight slop in the Meostar focusers changing direction...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Hello Pacci (and GCole). I can highly recommend either the B1.1 or the B1 Plus 8x32 models. You can think of my experiences with ”faulty” focusers to have one of three possible explanations: 1: BAD LUCK? Maybe I was really unlucky with my 8x32 purchases to get same problem on several units...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

For those of you who have followed my mishaps and gripes with the Meopta Meostar 8x32 binoculars I have now gotten my old Meopta B1.1 8x32 back as a loaner. The focuser works better with only some occasional tendencies of slight binding. Readjusting the bino hinge usually loosens it up again...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Thank you for chiming in. I really like the B1.1 and compared with the B1 Plus the difference is minimal in the 8x32, the rubber does feel thicker. At close range I did think the B1 Plus felt like the optics indeed were improved. Overall I prefer the older B1.1, based on looks and feel.

Thanks Lee, my info was from a thread last year in another forum, apparently not valid info anymore, sorry for that!

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

I am not familiar with the B1. On the B1.1 and B1 Plus the problem is twofold: the O-ring slippage and binding and hinge position are related. Binding does not happen on its own accord (unless in a IPD/hinge position where it does bind) but together with the adjusting the hinge. At the...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Hey Jim, another new finding today was that the binding of the focuser is also dependent on the hinge position; the focuser was running like a charm for me all day but the I handed it over to a friend who has a different IPD and when he repositioned the hinge it started binding the focuser...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Yes, John, that is correct. The change from B1 to B1.1 included locking dioptre adjustment and it is the same in the B1 Plus. I have two of the larger model B1 Plus and I have tried the 8x42 B1 Plus briefly and none of the larger binos have given me any problems. I sent back three B1 Plus 8x32...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Update: I finally got myself a working B1.1 8x32. I really did. But, not without a quirky start. The "keeper" Meopta arrived with a very smooth focusing wheel which worked well and then... ...not so well. But then it got smooth a while and then got stuck again! I decided to take a good look...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

As for candidates: I have the Zeiss 8x32FL which apart from ocular reflections is "the best" for my eyes and glasses. I have today tried the 8x32 Ultravid HD+ which surfaced second hand at a good price. It was certainly optically good enough - but it too gave me ocular reflections, very much...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Hey Andy: I have three B1 Plus binos with no problems, all made within the last year and a half. All focusing wheels are slightly different but stable in action. Despite my trantrum I am still open to, preferrably, a B1.1 8x32 since I liked the grip and format better than the B1 Plus. Also...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Andy: I have no idea as I don't follow the Covid situation that closely any more, I just keep up with the latest here. I know Czechia eventually got hit bad. Meopta factory seemed to have a strict protocol according to their global web site but once the spread outside the factory is a fact...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

I found this comment while browsing the threads for Meopta info prior to my first purchase: This comment is from fellow member lmans66 in another Meopta thread and it concerns the 8x32: (I was going to link to it, but I can't find it just now and my missus is ringing the proverbial dinner...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Zeiss comparison / size comparison: The stubby 8x32FL is actually shorter than the B1.1 . I prefer, slightly, the ergonomics on the B1.1. Though the B1.1 looks almost large next to the Zeiss it does not feel larger in use. Also the objective covers are fitted to the Meopta so it adds a mm or...

Mikewander: of course, I don't mean buggering him literally. If he chooses to delete the message and do nothing I will not "bugger" him further. :) If that wording sounds too harsh to you I will rephrase that. (Done). I wrote a very polite email, explaining the problems in short form. Gave...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

I will start tinkering with the eye cups on my Zeiss 8x32 FL and see if I can make something to minimize the ocular glare problem. I love the view other than the ocular glare from my glasses. It is what started me down the Meopta 8x32 path in the first place. If anyone would have a fully...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Hey all, thanks for the moral support! I know - it is crazy, right? I have the Meostar 10x42 and 15x56 and they don't have any issues. I have handled the 8x42 which was supersmooth. In fact me and a friend have been so impressed with the optics that a 12x50HD is on the way. It might end up...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Well, I think that I am either the most unlucky customer in the world - or that Meopta does not know how to put a pair of 8x32 binoculars together. I fell in love with the B1.1 Meostar 8x32 that arrived and optically I have no complaints. However, the focusing was stiff from the beginning, I...

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

Yes Rich, I know that going by external looks isn't perhaps the most sensible approach to choosing a binocular - but it sure does help if it comes in an attractive package.

Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x32 mishaps

DHL continues to impress and beat our local postal carrier by days. It is even more impressive considering it was ordered from Germany yesterday. All the while the local postal services take 4-5 days for delivering a parcel from about six hours drive away... Got the B1.1 8x32 and it sure feels...
