    More magnification will just let you to see birds to small to identify but further away!

    If I going to a reserve with the specific aim of spotting birds I will always carry a scope, 80mm with a 20-60x zoom, all assembled slung over my shoulder for quick draw. . If I am just going for a walk in the countryside I just carry some 8x or 7x binoculars, and occasionally an extra 60mm...

    There will always be birds too far away no matter what you have!
