I'm guessing that your patch is Whitburn Coastal Park. Am I right?

Wow - that's an amazing list. Where in the UK are you?

And another new bird for my list and the UK list (but not the Global one as Xenospiza had one on the 17th of March in Germany) - Velvet Scoter. I'm now on 174 and the UK list is 185. I'm really hoping for one more before Saturday

Another new bird for my list (but not the UK or Global lists) - Marsh Tit, bringing me up to 173

My first new bird for the list for several weeks today - Laurent got it in Belgium on the 4th of January and they are not usually hard to see in my area but I've been trying all year without success to see a Short-eared Owl, until today when, like London buses, I saw not one but two Short-eared...

Well done on these, especially the Black Redstart. There's been a dearth of them around my area this year - I keep hoping I'm going to find one on one of the buildings I go past in the docks along the Tees

Green Listing 2021 - Joint thread

What would have been another green lifer flew past one of my local headlands this morning (5 Little Auks) along with another that would have been a green year-tick (Velvet Scoter). Sadly I am confined to the house and (mostly) to bed with (after managing to evade it for so long) Covid. So far...

Two more new ones for me, and the UK list, yesterday, bring my list to 171 and the UK list to 183. They were Black-throated Diver (aka Arctic Loon, aka (apparently although I don't think anyone other than the authors of the Collins guide use it) Black-throated Loon), and Arctic Warbler - so two...

If anyone is interested in reading a bird-by-bird account of my last few NMT ticks (or Green-list ticks if you prefer), you can read it here in my blog Birding by Bike and Boots - NMT Update

After several failed attempts I finally caught up with my first Little Stint of the year yesterday. Not an addition to either the Global or UK list but number 169 for me

I dipped on a Purple Heron a couple of months ago - despite staying for a couple of hours at the place where it had been being seen

Two more new birds for my list yesterday - Brent Goose (Pale Bellied) and Red-throated Diver. My list is now at 168. Both were new for the UK list (now 181) but not for the world (on as Brant and Red-throated Loon respectively).

Oh and I forgot to mention - even though it's not on the Green list - my wife and I both saw the B;lack-browed Albatross on our way to our holiday destination (only a 'slight' detour). Lovely bird (but too far to cycle)

Green Listing 2021 - Joint thread

My list is now on 166 after the addition of Razorbill, Black Tern, Curlew Sandpiper and European Golden Plover. This brings the group's UK list to 179 and the world list to 577

Nice - Those are both good birds and certainly not easy where I am (the UK) and I suspect also not easy in most of the other countries represented here.

My Roseate Tern on the 14th of Aug was actually a juvenile Sandwich Tern so I've taken it off the world and UK lists. If anyone has had it since then, you'll need to add it back in.

I'd be really interested to hear how Laurent is getting on - he hasn't given us an update for a few months. Officially I'm ahead of him but I bet I'm not in reality. The way he was going I wouldn't be surprised if he's already over 200

Green Listing 2021 - Joint thread

Had two trips to the North Tees Marshes/beaches over the weekend and added 6 species to my NMT list, bringing me up to 163 now. They were, Arctic Skua, Arctic Tern, Roseate Tern, Grey Plover, Barnacle Goose and Whimbrel. The two terns were also new for the UK and World lists for this group...

Green Listing 2021 - Joint thread

After more than a month with no additions to my green/NMT list I've added three in one day - all at the same place - RSPB's Saltholme Reserve. Mediterranean Gull (with, I think, two plumage ticks for me - second summer and not-quite fledged chicks), Caspian Tern (a British tick for me too), and...

I agree about Black Swan btw - they're not self-sustaining populations yet as far as I can tell - just the odd bird that pops up here and there. I've got the same thing with a Ruddy Shelduck that has been hanging around my area. I haven't bothered going for it as it's a lone bird. The...

Thanks. Unfortuantely I realised that it is way too far for me - I had planned to try doing an overnight trip on Friday and Saturday but the bird disappeared for a couple of days so I did a different trip on the first part of the route only, camping at a site in the North York Moors (very hilly)...

Hi all, sorry for my long absence - I had quite a gap without any new birds, then added five to my list on the 19th of June, and then forgot to post on here or update my column on the spreadsheet. The five new species (for me) that I added were Ring-necked Parakeet, Common Scoter, Northern...
