ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

I might be destined for disappointment, but I think I'd prefer somewhat lighter weight, less metallic clanking noises, and three-section legs. Funny thing is I don't feel a need for a fluid pan head.

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

Three-plus year update... The Nikon ED50 is still working well. I removed the heavy pan head from the Velbon 455 and replaced it with a simple RRS ball head. To that I installed an Arca-Swiss clamp for plates on both my Nikon D50 Camera and my ED50 spotting scope - it's quite versatile that...

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

I'll keep looking and hang onto the 455 in the meantime. Thanks.

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

I wish Andoer had included an adapter in the package - I didn't/don't know what to call such a thing and therefore couldn't search for it. Link please, perhaps? Instead, I concentrated (in another thread) on removing the current 1/4-inch screw and replacing it with a 3/8-inch. That failed, and...

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

As OP I'll mention my findings with my new setup: Nikon ED50 with fixed 27x eyepiece, and Velbon Ultra 455 with OEM head: the scope and the 27x eyepiece are keepers. Without the fixed eyepiece I would have returned the scope - the 13x-30x has too little eye relief and too a narrow field of view...

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

My 27x eyepiece (Nikon #6950) was delivered today from Japan through eBay, a couple of days prior to the scheduled delivery. Nice. I have not seen the actual weight numbers posted, so here are my readings from my postal scale: 1. ED50 with standard 13-30x, including lens and eyepiece covers...

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

I ordered the 27x eyepiece on eBay for delivery before the end of the scope's 30-day evaluation period. For either this or the 13-30x, can a star test be run? All advice I'd read on it say it should be at max power, and 60x was normally mentioned.

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

I ordered a new ED50 and expect to have it Friday. The retailer allows easy returns.

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

Thank you all. As I mentioned, I expect to order tomorrow, and we'll see whether the issue is moot and the supplied eyepiece will work or not. My wife and I both wear glasses, so that "should" cause an eye relief problem, but I've read here of users who wear glasses and still use the zoom EP...

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

Thanks. Anything wrong with sourcing a new design, new-made one from Japan? I wear glasses and I suspect if the eye relief is too small I'll want to fix the problem quickly, or return the scope within its 30 day return period. I plan to buy a new ED50 tomorrow.

ED50 fixed power eyepieces in the US?

If I am able to achieve a Nikon ED50 spotting scope body without the variable eyepiece normally attached in the US, would I be able to find good fixed-power eyepieces? Many people seem to like the 27x - are they available here? If not, is the 13-30x usable?
