That's some pair of sexy legs on that little cutie, nice pic Roy :t: Chosun :gh:

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

Ok - fair enough. I've never really put much faith in warranties at this level. A $10K lens or something might be a different matter. Tamron offers a 24 month warranty from date of purchase in this country if it was through an approved retailer. Very rare for products to fail within the...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

Again, it's all been said multiple times before. One offers more reach, one a little less but slightly more speed. At the end of the day there will be not one jot of practical difference between them. Individual unit to unit variation will account for any differences. Your technique and skills...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

The Tamron G2 150-600 is meant to have marginally better central sharpness at 600mm than the Nikon 200-500 does at 500mm according to the test report I posted earlier somewhere. As such it would have the better cropability. Agree with what you've said about holding onto low light longer too...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

I was reading a review the other day which compared Tammy A011, and G2, the Niki, and Sigma C, and Sports (150-600). The G2 actually came out on top for centre and near centre sharpness at 600mm, and also at 500mm. At 600mm the Sigma Sports only edged ahead for full frame edge sharpness (which...

Haha - yes! Reassuring to know it's still there, as it's pretty much undetectable otherwise. Apodidae, At the risk of repeating myself ...... it only does it sometimes ..... it's probably something to do with limits of the system's correction capability, and the particular frequency and...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

Lol - only if you draw two ! :) Such things are 'possible', but hardly desirable. Even f6.3 can chug away in low light. People have just been repeating themselves and each other on this thread but the answers remain the same - there really is no magic bullet to your quandary. There are pretty...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

What the ! Why on earth would you want to put a TC on an f6.3 lens ? It's no substitute for a natively longer lens. AF if it works at all (Centre point only) is likely to be glacial. It's a bit like the blonde leading the blind ! Far better to jump into one camp or the other with both feet...

The Nikon 200-500 is a fine lens, as is the Tammy G2. They are on about a par. The thing is with this level of lens that unit to unit variability is a prospect (same goes for the Sigmas too) that could tip the IQ one way or the other. You can fine tune the Tammy throughout it's range and to your...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

I used to think that I would prefer it completely blacked out, and I was quite annoyed initially when I found out it wasn't. However after using just the superimposed reduced border for a long time I seem to have consciously and subconsciously adapted to it - in fact I prefer it this way. If I...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

Yes, that's correct. In 1.3x in-camera crop mode there is a reduced rectangular outline in the viewfinder that represents the photographic area that the photo will be taken from. The periphery to that is merely the same normal bright viewfinder view - it is not blacked out or cross-hatched in...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

It's a good option. :t: Given that the Siggy/Tammy 600mm superzooms are at their best when backed off a bit to a genuine ~550mm you are really only giving up about 10% reach anyway. I think the Tammy G2 and the Niki are on about a par for sharpness - it's just a shame that the Niki is that...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

It's not something you really need to worry about - the biggest factor in deciding will still be maximum native focal length vs size/weight. The IS/VR systems are all in the lenses only and work to give the extra f stop effect as in their respective specifications. Mostly for birds (especially...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

Yes, it isn't bad (especially considering the smaller size and lighter weight advantage). It will be better on large Pelican sized birds, but the little geewhizzits will still be frustratingly small even when you are seemingly close. (I like to keep my distance on all birds - too many 'ooh-aah'...

Best long lens for about a grand for D7200

On the D7200 in 1.3x in-camera crop mode (which also gives you 7fps), the 400mm of the Siggy will be 800mm equivalent, f6.3, and resolution of 14.2MP. The weight of the rig will be just under 2kg ~ or around about the weight of the Tammy itself. I find I am still (mostly) searching for more...
