    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

For obtaining widest FOV is possible to use some 2" that don't have lenses on the 2" barrel and is accomplished by removing the 2" section and use a T2 adapter to the ep thread - varies with the brand... I can use 2" eps on my Optplyth 100 like this but you can see another example use at Using...

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

Don't know what zoom you have/plan to use, but for birding I recommend the use of a barlow cell with a zoom, instead of a fixed ep with high resulting magnification - see 1.6x barlow cell with Baader Zoom and Baader vs APM SZ - the APM SZ sould not reach focus on the Nikon but you can search for...

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

Should work fine. If not, you have always the possibility of using the adapter available for the EDG series and than do the same as shown at post 152. Don't know why Nikon didn't produced an adapter for using fieldscope eps on the Monarch series...(n)

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

There is another more practical solution solution for birding - you can use a barlow element screwed on the Baader zoom 1,25" adapter as I use - see barlow cell and how it looks on the Optolyth 100 at the end of Preferred CR-telescopes. These barlow cells are sold within several brands (even as...

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

The SW are based and have the same optical design of the spotting scope eps. The HW series is another story since were designed for astro use and have more pincushion - I have the 12.5mm version.

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

It would be most interesting for many birders if you could do a comparative test within the Meopta and the Monarch, including their zooms and astro eps use, please with some photos...;)

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

For those wanting to use different 1.25" astro-eps, the shortest T to 1.25" adapter I know is the Baader ultra-short T-1.25" adaptor

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

Nice to know that the Monarch use the standard Nikon bayonet - read some where that was the Nikon first mirorless camera bayonet that stopped production... Henry, all mm saved count to reach focus so I would use something like short Nikon to T adapter

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

It's a pity that Nikon doesn't produce an adapter to use fieldscope eps on the Monarch, unlike what happens with the EDG series... :-C I think that read somewhere that the bayonet system of the Monarch is similar to the Nikon 1 cameras, so eventually is possible to find an adapter Nikon 1 to T...
