    Pair of Bewick's Swan and a Great Northern Diver at Widdrington Moor Lake today.

    Tynemouth Black Redstart has showing very well over the last few days. Some reports that there are two. It has been on the sea cliffs and rocks by the gates to the pier. I saw it today at about 3pm, to within about 30 ft. Lovely, smart bird.

    I hear that NWT will now oppose the mining plans for Druridge Bay on grounds that the habitat developments proposed lack assurances and that it is not clear how they can be realistically implimented. Richard

    Best ever views of Red throated Diver at Tynemouth Longsands this afternoon, just 10 metres offshore at times, hardly needed the bins.

    Beautiful day at Holywell and Seaton Sluice. Highlights being 11 Whooper in off the sea heading West at noon, then a very smart drake Velvet Scoter showing well with Eider off the headland at 2pm.

    Pair of Mandarin on River Wansbeck, Bothal Woods at lunchtime. Short eared Owl at St Mary's near wetland area yesterday at dusk. Yellow browed Warbler reported earlier in the day in Willows on North West corner of wetland.

    Little Gull, Tynemouth Haven yesterday morning. 4 Wheatear in field opposite toilet block on Seaton Sluice to Blyth road this evening. Kingfisher flashing up the Seaton Burn at Holywell Dene also earlier.
