Hmmmm....... If the person in question really owns a pager then I would find it very hard to believe that they have never ever been to see ‘someone else’s birds’ ?!..... Really ??

Just taken a look at this. It is true many sheeple bored of following the flock are turning their backs on the listing and twitching thing in favour of patch birding. There is a lot to be said for that. I like the idea of a blog where keen local patchers can share experiences, highs and lows...

Yep, the wardens have sorted out some daytime access to the area, just got back and its showing well again.:t: The 6pm rustic boat is still running for anyone interested, this is the latest boat today ?? It goes direct and doesn't involve a 3 hour tour of the islands !

Rustic Bunting Update Hi all The Rustic Bunting is still on Inner Farne but it is not viewable from public areas, so not really do-able on a standard boat trip. Andrew at Serenity Boats is running a 6pm trip again which will let you have access to the area where the bunting is (after the...

Hi Brian Try asking Andrew at Serenity boat tours, he'll know if the bird is still there this morning and last week he left my mate on there for 2-3 hours to photograph the birds. He is really into his birds and always keen to help, he took us over last night to see it...

And there's a good few of those idiots up here !! Having encountered them myself on a number of occasions I think people are perfectly within their rights to suppress any potential breeding attempt of rarer species, I certainly would. You just need to look at the recent incidents in the north...

Was sat checking my e-mails this morning when I heard it calling (all a bit strange !). I looked up to see it was circling over the house. It circled quite low and drifted northwards.

Hi Liverbirder The crane is a bit further south than that, more towards the Long Nanny. There are 2 options. For crane only, distant scope views from the coast road between Beadnell village and the Swinhoe "stop hammertime" turning. To see the flood well (and temminck's, wood sand etc)...

Spoken like a true old git !! Welcome to the club..... You didn't mention the crazy hitch hiking, sleeping in hides and eating things scraped off roads.... although I never did the last one myself ! I do remember, as a kid, I always got in big trouble whenever the phone bill came in, that...

Look Mr Kinghorn will you stop going on about that flippin eastern crowned wotsit ! ;) Interestingly I think you'll find that at least some of these twitchers are actually ars*s that don't really know what they are looking at half the time ! I think that program demonstrated the point quite...

I'd say roseate tern is pretty difficult at the Long Nanny, it usually gets just a handful every year. There has been one bird lingering about here for a few days now, but you've gotta be in the right place at the right time to see it.... still well worth a visit tho, just to see all those terns...

Just to fill you in a bit.... The cit wag reported at High Newton was seen this morning before 8.30 by a single observer who called me and was 95% confident of the ID. Unfortunately the bird in question flew off and could not be relocated to confirm the ID despite at least 3 hours searching by...

Hi All Perhaps of interest.... this ring ouzel was around Newton by the Sea at the weekend. If you walk north from Newton Links car park (High Newton) just past the farm buildings there is a livestock feeding area and large manure heap to the right of the path (just past the stile and gate)...
