    Just heard a rumour ( From a local) that a cafe is going to be built at the Royal Quays where the Common Terns nest. Every year the colony has been increasing so hope it stays a rumour.

    No sign of those(st marys) Snow buntings when I was there but there were loads of dog walkers about, also think I'm the only birder who hasn't seen waxwing this year but will settle for the Blackcap hanging around my garden bet it's not there in the morning. Bit early but all the best for 2011...

    Red Flanked Bluetail and Red Breasted Flycatcher reported at St Mary's area today ( don't know full details ) 45 Brambling in the Cemetery, Dusky Warbler near Tynemouth Pier and Great Grey Shrike nearby. I just wish I'd seen any of them :-C:-C

    Hi Millyg If the shop is open you can ask them to open the hide for you. Sadly it will be closing for good soon ( hide not the shop) as the council has earmarked it for something else... Some of the locals stand next to the toliet block and seawatch from there, but if you dont fancy looking...

    I found this bird this afternoon so sent a couple of texts off. The info I got back(after people had seen it) was that it was a 1st Year Grey Headed Wagtail, hence my post. I will leave it to the experts to sort out which Sub SP, either way was a first for me and an interesting bird.

    Bargain I spotted a pair of 10X50 Bins for £4.99 at Morrisons Petrol Station Whitley Bay this Morning. Regardless of the quality, that's a bargain for a second pair for the glove box etc.. Don't know if it's other Morrisons Petrol Stations mind..
