    A large flock of Crossbills c100 hanging around Cragside near Rothbury all week. 9 Ravens and a Merlin yesterday at Lordenshaws carpark - Simonside Hills. A Curlew Sandpiper also in the Boulmer area, at least till Thursday.

    A few pictures from the Harthope Valley on Sunday May 3rd. Birds seen included several Green Woodpeckers + Woodcocks, Redpolls,Tree Pipits, Redstart,Stonechats,Ravens,Ring Ouzels,Grey Wags,Wheatears,Merlins etc. Strangely didnt see any Whinchats (12 on April 30th last year).

    Spent a pleasant day on Holy Island on Thursday. Got distant pics of a female Peregrine and an Osprey sitting near the causeway. At least three thousand Brent Geese on the flats . A Wood Sand and 6 Ruff on the Rocket Pools. Plenty of Pied and Spotted Flys and Redstarts in the village.

    Spent a nice few days in the Cheviots, As expected plenty in the Harthope , Spotted and Pied Flys, Tree Pipits, Whinchats ,Lesser Redpolls and absolutely loads of Mistle Thrush. Spent Monday at Alwinton , loads of Wheatear, more Whinchats ,Grey Wags and Buzzards and several Raven.
