Mega Yank duffs up Coot today Amid a cacophony of noise the Pied Billed Grebe gave a Coot a dose of its own medicine this afternoon at Ham Wall ;-)) Could hardly believe my eyes and wondered if this was 'normal' behaviour?? I didn't see what caused this spat but the Coot had to get away very...

Regarding Roger's remark about visitors from outside the county, we bumped into a group of 14 visitors from Mid-Cheshire yesterday afternoon at Greylake. After they had gone another mini bus load turned up though not sure from where. The Cheshire folks had done Ham Wall and seen the pied-billed...

Roger thanks for your offer and I note you made valuable contributions to this thread right back at the beginning in 2008 continuing on through July 2012 providing excellent information which was appreciated I'm sure by many. Trouble is, and I guess this was the recent point made, we probably...

Red Kite in Somerset today My first sighting of a Red Kite in Somerset (today). 1 mile East of A37 roundabout on A303 close to Yeovilton. Kite stooped twisting from about 80 feet and disappeared behind a tree into a field just beside the A303. Driving (obviously) so no time for tags...

You win some you lose some! This evening at Ham Wall wasn't a patch on last year. If I were to go again tomorrow I'd head out through ShapwicK Heath.....but if that doesn't work then the Starlings have changed their collective minds ;-) Jamie

Darryl, Probably the best bet is to look for Ham Wall on the RSPB website. This will give you the grid reference and a Multimap link which should get you to the car park at Ham Wall. From the car park walk East into Ham Wall, or West into Shapwick Heath (East)....i don't know of any post...

Dejected at the lack of presence on BirdForum of our beautiful County of Somerset, (notwithstanding there are viable ornitholigical groups in this county), why can't we have a presence here on BirdForum??? I would only wish that any BirdForum members who would like to not only enjoy birding in...
