    A day out at Shapwick Heath produced 1 Black tern, marsh harrier, and otter from Noah's, 2 bearded tits also seen on 70 acres, and across the road at Ham Wall numerous Bittern sightings and 3 Hobbies.

    I popped in to the rspb's west sedgemoor reserve last night for a quick visit, and was rewarded with superb views of a pair of spotted flycatchers using a pertch right in front of the hide. also of note were cranes flying overhead.

    A walk along the old railway line at Langport yesterday evening produced 2 cranes who were very vocal from an adjacent field, upon watching discovered the cause to be a fox stalking them, all ended safely as the pair flew off into the next field, also of note was a barn owl and 2 Tawny owls.

    Had a quick walk around Greylake this morning and was rewarded with good views of spotted flycatchers in the car park and yellow wagtails near the hide, a single teal was also on the pond.

    A quick hour over at shapwick this afternoon produced 3 Great White Egrets, 2Bitterns, a couple of Hobbies, 1 Male Marsh Harrier, and approx 50 Black tailed Godwits on the Scrape.

    Popped over to Shapwick this evening, cuckoos were very active at least 6 calling from different directions, 3 of which were showing really well.

    Quite a windy morning over at Shapwick, Meare Heath Scrape produced A single wood sandpiper, 3 Dunlin, a couple of Redshanks, and a small number of Black tailed Godwits. Also a couple of Hobbies, Marsh Harrier, Great White Egret, and Garden Warbler seen

    Spent the morning in Horner woods, and was rewarded with superb views of Redstarts, both male and female, dippers, pied fly catchers and wood warblers.

    2 black winged stilts showing well from the second viewing platform at Ham wall this morning, also good views of bittern, marsh harriers and Cetti's warblers

    A second trip to Ham Wall today resulted in excellent views of the Pied Billed Grebe which was calling and showing well from the second viewing platform.

    An enjoyable trip to Ham wall this morning, although very windy at times, two bitterns one in flight and the second showing well out in the open, also a hobby gliding low over the reed beds, sadly did not spot the pied billed grebe though.

    Some excellent views of the Great White Egrets over at Shapwick today, A juvenile approx 11 weeks showing really well and an adult flying overhead, also a Marsh harrier and a brief appearance from an otter.

    A sunny afternoon over at Shapwick on the Lagoon today produced 1 Little Stint, 1 Snipe, 1 Redshank and approx 30 Knot.

    On the reed bed to the right of the drained lagoon at Shapwick produced 17 bearded tits and a bittern this morning, the lagoon itself was quiet with a single dunlin hiding amongst the black tailed godwits and lapwings.

    Plenty of lapwings and Black tailed Godwits over at Shapwick this evening, the only other birds of note was a Water Rail and Great White Egret on the Drained Lagoon and a Hobby, Juv Marsh Harrier and 2 Common Terns over at Noahs.

    Had a spare hour or two yesterday evening, so popped over to shapwick and was rewarded with good views of the Pectoral sandpiper and spotted crake on the drained lagoon, also the Osprey was still present on Noahs.

    After the recent weather I was able to spend some rain free time over at Shapwick, On the drained lagoon were approx 30 Black tailed Godwits, 5 green sandpipers, a single greenshank approx 100 peewits and a Great white Egret and as for raptor spotting it was almost a full set with Marsh...

    Hi woodhornbirder, not sure if im able to make it on Wed, however Bittern sightings are very good at the moment so hopefully you should break your 30 yr duck.

    Spent a couple of hours at Hamwall yesterday evening, As well as the Bitterns, Hobbies, and Marsh Harriers had excellent views of the Red Footed Falcon.
