First I was excited by that one as well but I found an oop big book in Dutch by Roy Kleukers e.a. which serves me well alongside two field guides :) in total two cd's with sound recordings accompanying them

I've just received Lynx's All The Bird Of The World. First I must say I enjoyed the packaging; that internal box containing the book, with the Lynx name stamped out, is a beautiful design, never seen such beautiful packaging before. The whole gigantic thing was very well packed. Contents...

Whaaaaaaaat, couldn't Lynx have stated on their page until when the €65 for "Bird Families" would last?! Now it's €87 again and that's a bit of too far a stretch for me, especially with ABOTW... Could almost buy the Illustrated Checklist set as well for that... Crazy prices. Think I'll be going...

Thanks, Melanie. I read in an earlier post you know both books? Which do you find most informative, is there a big difference? I don't need too much visuals in it, I'll have the All Birds Of The World for that.

Hey guys, is Handbook of Bird Families by Elphik a decent textual addition to All The Birds Of The World? It's quite a bit more affordable than the Lynx "Bird Families of the World" but tempted by that too. But that one almost looks superfluous? As said, mainly looking for a textual addition to...

More affordable and concise? Will probably serve another market/audience, like me. I can't and won't spend a small fortune on books that give me too much info I'll never use. An overview like this to leave through suits me fine.

Nice! Good for an overview for a dreamer that never will make it around the world but still wants to dwell in the world's ornithological beauty :)
