It's worth pointing out that if you do see a Harris Hawk or ideed any bop with jesses on report it to IBR (independent bird register) they will try their best to reunite it with its owner.

Snowy owl Sorry for cross posting but i need some help. A snowy owl flew away whilst taking part in a falconry display at Kielder yesterday (Sunday 22nd). The bird got spooked by a dog which was off the lead. This is a captive bred imprinted bird, who's chance of survival in the wild is zero...

All of these places are well worth visiting, however they are a fair distance from where you are staying. It might be better for you to stay in northumberland. Everybody knows that the birding in northumberland is better than durham;);) Holy island, cresswell, hauxley, duridge bay all really...

I say you should sort it out like men, strip to the waist and go toe to toe outside. Anybody fancy a bet? My money is on steve. Here’s my 2p worth. Surely the usefulness of this forum is only because there are so many people using it. If people are afraid to use it because of fear they...

About three years ago, when i taught at Usworth School, one of the kids told me about an owl that was hunting near his house (in Sulgrave) and sure enough it was a seo in the field that you mentioned. I'm pretty sure there was a least one spotted there last year. I guess it's a case of not...

Nice to read that a Golden Eagle was spotted on the DBC trip over the boarder. Unfortunatley do to other things (trying to buy a house) i couldn't make it. However I'm up that way fairley often (the other half is from Lockerbie) and would be very interested in where the best place to see GE is...

I saw crossbills a few times whilst there. I spent most of my time to the south of the valley in and around the moutain bike run. I don't know Hamsterly very well at all. I'm sure somebody else on here will be able to give you some better advice. Craig

No I didn’t Martin. I figured I would stand a better chance if I went mid week (less mountain bikes flying about). The forecast seems sent fair for a least the next couple of days so I’ll try then. I’ll let you know how I get on. Cheers Craig

Hetton Bog Yesterday Sorry it's a bit late. The usual at the bogs. Including a robin which seemed to spend more time in and around the screen then in the feeding station. At one point it sat within about 6 inches of the camera. JBee's obviously finished training the waterails and started on...

Aye, you're right. I've heard recent reports of Gos in the northern green belt of newcastle!! I guess it does look a bit daft. I'll explain... I'm moved down to Sunderland about nine months ago. I'll be back in god's own land (where the sun always shines) in about a month or so. Although i...

I fell i should add a treecreeper shot like everybody else. As mine were taken on the other side of the water i'll not bother. Could somebody please advise me where the best place to look for Goshawk is in hamsterley forest. Is it just a case of finding a hill and pitching up for the day?

I also use the Opticron ES 80 GA and find it works really well. Just make sure you buy a sturdy tripod, it might be the all weather case that catches the wind, mine has been blown over a good few times now :-O
