    Peter, first, as I see that you're a fairly "New Member": Welcome to BirdForum, and the Bird Name Etymology subsection! With that said, I also gave it a try, but neither I can find a digitized copy of Merrem's genus Æthia (of either 1787, or 1788) ... I couldn't get any closer than this...
