I think it was a spring bird but we've also got one of the 'normal' Hilbre birds back presumably from last year or this spring. Your right about the ring but they can look shiny as shown on this bird from Hilbre in January.

Jane. There's a certain ringer on Hilbre who can't tell left from right and there has been a right legged ringed Rock Pipit courtesy of afore mentioned ringer.8-P

There are a few wing tagged Buzzards on the Wirral. From memory I think there is normally a tag on each wing. I've seen a couple of wing tagged birds along the M53 corridor.

Nice one Jane. On Hilbre before it was really light today and had loads Redwings flying over West Kirby as we left. A few grounded thrushes on the Islands and good numbers of Skylarks over. Star birds were o nthe sea though - 2 Long-tailed Ducks & a Slav Grebe! A phone message from Pete at...

Several on Hilbre as well - a week after they started getting them on the south coast. Makes you wonder where those earlier ones came from..........................

Ahh. Now I understand. A movement of thrushes supports the hypothesis that a Ring Ouzel must be around. The theory being that like species may move together on the same weather fronts. You didn't see an Ouzel but one could have been there so the theory can't be disproven so the hypothesis...
