    New Sigma 150/600

In Cyprus I had the chance to compare a canon 1div and 7d2 with the Canon 500mm mk1 and 1.4x II versus the Sigma 150-600mm contemporary (using the same cameras) and also the Nikon 300mm pf with the 1.7x and 2x with the D7200. Results from the 3 sets were almost indistinguishable so that proves...

    New Sigma 150/600

I had similar issues with the Sigma tc-1401 teleconverter. Back focusing that could not be corrected and issues focusing. No problems with the Kenko 2x pro 300 or the Canon 1.4x (tried all 3 versions)

    New Sigma 150/600

I had both. I cannot see any difference in image quality, especially in the centre. That's good enough for me.

    New Sigma 150/600

I think is nice to put a link to flickr when, as in Chris' case, you can see the full resolution files. When uploading here there is a limitation on the file size and resolution.

    New Sigma 150/600

You can get the 7D2 for around £1000, would have thought that the 2 cameras you have are worth close to that but maybe I am mistaken.

    New Sigma 150/600

Did you consider replacing both your cameras with either the 7D mkII or the 1D IV?

    New Sigma 150/600

If anyone is looking for a Canon fit one, I have one on reserve until lunchtime tomorrow that they can have as the friend I reserved it for already bought one.

    New Sigma 150/600

The Sigma at f6.3 is approximately as good as the Tamron at f8 At f8 the Sigma is better (as expected) The stabilization of the Tamron is supposed to be a little better (around half a stop) but the Sigma OS seems to take less time to stabilise the image. I find the weight of the Sigma to help...

The Shrike was on the D800e And it was 1986 ;)

    New Sigma 150/600

Sure, why not? :t: BTW my tamron is very good at f8, problem is that in the UK you cannot often use f8 ... This is the full frame of a shot with the Tamron at f8 in Cyprus and below the crop: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jfoq0u01upllo7t/crop%20810_3615.jpg?dl=0...

    New Sigma 150/600

The sharpness would not be greatly affected if noise reduction not was used but the noise would be greater. The Tamron shot at f8 on the D810 would be about the same as the Sigma on the same camera at f6.3 from my current experience. It is a shame I do not have 2 full frame cameras to do more...

    New Sigma 150/600

Just for reference this was with the Tamron 150-600 at f8 ISO500. The difference that good light makes even when the bird is still not that close (make sure you download the original, full resolution, file): https://www.dropbox.com/s/v5wh6p7o1drlu8p/Tamron%20150-600mm%20f8%20iso500.jpg?dl=0

    New Sigma 150/600

Same photos resized and sharpened a little more. This is how some people post higher ISO shots: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5efrpqx3hc7u5do/AAAtbmNg73F8-QO7EKxI1rPKa?dl=0 And I was not even that close to the birds. At half the distance, ISO400 or lower and f8 or f9 these would be even sharper...

Been told February but would take that with a pinch of salt.

    New Sigma 150/600

You got some right :) I already pre-ordered the contemporary. More photos below and no bickering from me if (when?) I am told they are soft All in low light so ISO1600 and f6.3 You can click on the photo and then right-click and select "view original" All crops but NOT resized. Some more...

    New Sigma 150/600

To something more helpful. My friend tried the Sigma 1.4x MK1 and the Canon 1.4x mkIII on the 7D2 He said that both work, the Canon version autofocuses more quickly (not sure about accuracy though as he did not find any birds in flight to test it with)

    New Sigma 150/600

This is a sigma and not a tamron thread. I posted my tamron shots in other threads already.
