are those people knocking this lens on the grounds of its optical performance or only on the weight? Did you get any indication of the price or weight of the "Contemporary" lens? Making comparisons between the Sigma "sport" and the tamron is a bit artificial given the disparity in weight/price, but this info is currently not published for the contemporary. No date and no indication of the weight either (which seems to be the biggest physical difference between the Sport and the Tammy). If I was a cynic I might be tempted to say Sigma made the announcement of the Contemporary prematurely as a way of compromising the sales of the Tammy...- gandytron
