    Shenley Fields Lake Little Grebe this week & over winter and now in breeding plumage. (First seen by Rob).

    Shenley Fields Lake had a Little Grebe for a few weeks. I saw it catch a worm. (First seen by Rob).

    Shovelers back at the lake. Arrived a couple weeks back. First a single male & two females. Then three males & then two males, two females.

    Last weekend, early 3 Goosander then they flew off. A Swan visited did not stay long.

    Yes good Shoveler numbers. There were still several late afternoon. They've been coming & going for a couple months now.

    7 female Goosander & then 2m 2f Shoveler this week on the lake. There must be fish again as, also a Heron.

    I had not bothered looking as I thought fish had not recovered. A pair of Goosander yesterday with a Heron. I checked today, the Heron remained on the island where it used to be usually.

    The 3 Coot chicks are calling now. The other Coot is still on it's nest.

    The 3 Coot chicks are now swimming around another branch that dips into the water. It was good to see another Coot has built an impressive nest (lol) in the middle of the inlet / shallow area. Song Thrush again singing nearby.

    The Swan did not stay long, next time I looked it was gone. The Coot that had built a nest next to the island on a tree branch that dips into the water has 3 chicks. A Song Thrush was singing nearby.

    A Swan has arrived on the lake this weekend. I note one turned up a similar time last year. I'll keep an eye on how long it stays

    2 Tufted Ducks back and a Pied Wagtail by the roundabout.

    I found out where the Tufted Ducks have gone. They are on the Valley Parkway boating pond.

    There were 2 Tufted Ducks but they've gone now. I was pleased to find a Grey Wagtail here.

    A quick check of the lake, there were 4 Tufted Ducks but they've gone now. There were 2 Grey Wagtails.

    I'm keeping an eye on the lake; A Heron has returned, fishing off a branch over the water. The water level is quite low. There was a Tufted duck & a Grey Wagtail at the inlet.

    The last Swan did not stay long. Now another is present. The Coot chicks survived. I've not seen a Heron recently.

    My last post for this site was the death of a Swan. I always take a quick look. Finally a Swan has returned. There was a Heron over winter. There's a pair of Tufted ducks. As at most lakes now, a Coot is sat on a nest.

    Sad news at the lake. The resident male swan died after being attacked by a dog. The female and eggs have been moved and are under the care of the rspca.

    I've been waiting a long time and finally another Goosander was on the pond today. Also a Heron and Grey Wagtail. Great!

    I've been waiting for the Goosander to arrive and three were present this morning with two on the Valley Parkway boating pond. Also they've been reported on Merecroft Pool. Great!!
