    Last 2 days Yesterday: Grey Heron stalking on warwick bar stop lock. Today: 5 Cormorants over city centre and 2 Grey Wagtails on roof of banana warehouse.

    On Eastside, in the area fenced off for the rugby world cup 'fanzone', at around 0730 there was a Bar-headed Goose amongst the 20 Canadas present.

    Springs picking up more obviously on the Digbeth Branch now. Had a pair of Blackcaps the last two days and Chiffchaffs singing, Canada Geese have set up nests and territories for a short while now with one egg noted but unfortunately left untended, and had 3 Swallows over this morning...

    This morning on Eastside 'fields' had a group of gulls feeding on the grass including 6no LBBG, 1no BHG, 1no HG and 1no YLG. A first for me in the city.

    Just been flicking through the thread, you mentioned seeing a Black Redstart for the first time in 5 years on the first page. You're clearly having too much luck with these that they're losing their excitement! Haha!

    ...and had an unusual sighting today of a dead female Pheasant on Fazeley Street. I can only imagine either some person's dropped their game pie filling or the Peregrines have been commuting out of town and being lazy en route back with their spoils!?

The best I can do over the last couple of weeks is a female Kingfisher seeming to take advantage of stranded fish in an emptied lock basin at Ashtead Locks on the Digbeth Branch...

    No news either way for a couple of days on the Phalarope. Got a day off Thursday so might pop over if I'm feeling flush and have a gander. There's always some plants if it's flown...

    Fire at the Hawthorns Looked big from Snow Hill, no wonder the trains were cancelled!!! But at least to help ease the mood, 2 Peregrines gave a good display around the BT tower to those stranded...not that anyone noticed.

    I can't say I saw it atually fishing but it was very actively flying around the stop lock area. Yes, the Rea does cross the canal there but if I was a kingfisher, I wouldn't use it as a route for local movement. Takes you under a lot of roadways and most of the time it looks like a moving...
