    Still got Dippers on the Rea .....had 2 at top end by the waterfall on 24th (Weds) but couldnt find any Thuds up to Midday...... ..1 reported later.

    Had a MALE MERLIN shoot past me while waiting for Dippers on River Rea around 3.20 today....Very bluey grey with a tiny white tip to tail and very pointed wings. Also Dipper and Grey Wagtail

    Nice evening so popped in to Meercroft while on way home.....and got 2 Little Egrets on the sunken dead trees...a Heron on it as well.....had to sneak into the mud and water to get a peak through the branches....lol

    I wonder if the 2 egrets were the same 1 as the one I had at Meercroft on New years Eve flew off towards Wychall Resa....couldnt find it later though !! Some pics from 31 Dec....

    MEERCROFT...1-2 pm... 7 GOOSANDER...4 M...3 F Little Egret 2 Heron 3 Shoveler. ..1 Pair and a dull male. Over at Wychall Resa lots of Teal in the shallows but no idea how many.

    Also the Hybrid Mallard male was getting frisky keeping other males on their toes - and they were all flying around the pool and plunging into the clear bit - keeping it clear. Had my 1st Redwing of the year...I know its late.....by the Wychall Road Rea bridge.

    MEERCROFT.....almost entirely frozen...just a small area right of where people feed the ducks open...Mallards and 2 Swans keeping it open....BUT it's s good chance to see a Male Pochard and a Little Grebe close in...

    MEERCROFT. .... 8 Teal Little Egret...was on submerged branches on right but just flew onto island trees and then shoreline.

    Thanks Rob....thats the one.......I had suspicions a Mandarin was in there somewhere......It kept wanting to join in with the mallards but was always on the edge of their games....

    Pair Goosanders still around and a Little Egret low in tree on right....flew off as soon as it spotted me.

    A pair of Goosander on Meercroft at the moment....and a mysterious Duck !!....probably a hybrid.

    Quick visit to Merecroft...Popes Lane...Wychall Road and up towards Northfield. Merecroft....Little Grebe...Large Gull (Herring ??) Nothing but a Grey wagtail around Popes Lane. Kingfisher in trees over River upstream from Road bridge....flew a few times upstream so I followed hoping for a...
