There are dark abberants altho I must say if anything I see pale birds from time to time. There were a group of 4 over at the West Hagley Fields for a few years - they must have been from the same brood with one in particular almost approaching albino. If it's Buzzard-sized and Buzzard-shaped...

Very good with the Redwings, they would certainly be early statistically for me - take the Dog out about 10pm last thing and haven't had a peep although 2 Tawny Owls adjacent to the house early hours this week have been nice. Good birding - Laurie -

Nice to have an update from a, now under-reported, site. Unfortunately YamYam has moved to pastures new..... For some of us being 'without the car' is the norm but the upside is that it means local birding, proper local, there are enough updates from the 'hotspots' more is needed from the...

Should be OK today, after a cool start. On Thursday a slow-moving front should bring cooler temperatures and rain for the morning, clearing for the afternoon. High pressure should build on Friday and temperatures should rise into the late-teens/early twenties over the weekend and next week...

It's not being 'repaired' it's being 'fitted out' - an important difference!;) Still lots to do but not costwise just time and.................inclination:eek!: Now that i have resolved one or two issues with BW and received compensation i can now finish it off and use it as i intended - to...

Re: Nutcracker - not me, i had 'phased' from twitching about then due to getting married/having a kid and the 'team' disintegrating etc altho i did hear about the Staffs bird. I managed the bird in Westleton in, i believe 1985, a stonker - feeding on windfall apples. I purchased a picture...

Really?, now i know China is huge but i would have thought it was high-impact - perhaps not over-mechanised but really intensive. Having said that i do'nt know altho i found the BBC's 'Wid China' fascinating. Laurie:t:

Abroad is so much scruffier which means plants and birds, not been to Bulgaria.......yet but there is a low-impact approach to agriculture unlike here where there aint a bit of scrub here and a wet patch there all this and we still need to import Strawberries from Mexico and cut plants from...

In the light of modern-day birding it would have been interesting to have seen whether Little Owl would have colonised? The introductions apparantly came from Holland - possibly the source of some of our Eagle Owl records? There are also fossil records from Derbyshire from over half a million...
