    There are still very small numbers on surrounding heaths, so if we get a run of successful breeding seasons and warm winters, then I'm sure the young of these birds will disperse, and re-populate Thursley once more.

    All the heathland specialities are present (except Dartford Warbler, thanks to the cold snap). Woodlark, Tree Pipit, Redstart, and Stonechat should be easy, and Hobby are present (better in warm weather). A couple of pairs of Curlew breed, a few Crossbill are around, and Spotted Flycatcher...
