Nice one with the Weasel, just out of interest. Where did you have it? I had one in the RSPB meadow near the carved viewing screen a week or so ago.

Both of those reports (and all previous records) are from the same observer and relate to the grid square over the RSPB centre. Obviously no Tree Sparrows exist on the reserve, nor anywhere in WM county (presumed extinct). This observer has reported them multiple times, however funnily enough...

Nothing much different to report from the hide than you report Dave. 6 Pochard (4m) though rather than 5

Eventful afternoon! 4 LRP from the hide was the main attraction before scanning the sw corner of the lake and saw a silhouetted 'black' duck with its tail pointed up swimming out from under the trees where the Shovelers often roost. Took a couple of minutes before the bird raised its head to...

Superb afternoon! Watching a male Stonechat from the centre while on a break from our work recreating the pond outside the RSPB Centre was nice. But eclipsed by the 5 minutes to follow later in the afternoon. While working we saw the office empty and scanning to the west. The Osprey had just...

A photo for YAMYAM. Interestingly plumaged Reed Bunting on RSPB feeders. Also a bonus LRP. Both on Thursday

Great Black- Backed Gulls are quite unusual in the roost at Bartley. Any GBBG in the West Midlands is likely to roost at Chasewater, where 470!! roosted the other night! MB

I had a Willow Tit on the 3rd of January at the old RSPB feeders outside the burnt out shell of the old buildings. Glad to hear that building work is recommencing!

Notable as in what? ;) They're only around 12 months a year :smoke:

The old railway line has always done me good. Regularly get them perched up in someones back garden near the school playing fields on the opposite side of the actual railway line. Your looking through 3 fences to see them, but it's fairly reliable MB

Haha, sadly my age does not stretch as far as the Great Snipe, merely chatting about past finds back when I could barely identify waders and I repeatedly couldn't locate the duck that 'can't be named' on Forge Mill. My post of the Visitors book still holds its place on the RSPB website from all...

    Sandwell Valley

It does ;) I remember him telling me how he got the nickname when I visited the valley regularly back in my 'early' birding career :t: Finder of the Great Snipe if I remember correctly MB

Significant movement of Arctic Terns today guys. Hope you double checked ;) Far less Commons about than Arctics! MB

Looks like a male Siskin MB

Tbh, you do need to treat many of the reports with Sandwell valley with caution. Have a look at page 3 of this thread and you'll see why. There seems to be a yearly report of Glossy Ibis from there :smoke: If there really was an Ibis, well done the finder, but the reputation of the valley is...

    Sandwell Valley

There were two 'reports' today from the Sandwell valley area, one flying west over the M5 this morning, then reported on Swan Pool this afternoon. A very typical 'little info' report from the valley..... MB
