    From the other side of the bank I saw one extra male goosander. Then I went in to the centre of Droitwich for a very surprising great crested grebe on the canal.

    I got lucky and finally connected with the little owl at Linacres. I heard it calling first and it was amazing that after a gap of seven years I could actually identify that! The bird took a bit of finding in the foliage of the oak but was obvious once located.

    Odd you should mention that. I saw a reed bunting in someone's garden by the canal in Droitwich yesterday. Of course they will come to feeders; they do at Upton.
