    Lapwings over Coney Meadow and Salwarpe this morning. 11 Cormorants in the dead Oak trees. Reed Buntings. Many thousands of Linnet in the set aside field behind Salwarpe Court all trying to avoid a beautiful Kestrel.

    Large Starling murmuration last night - several thousand birds at around 4:30 - but over Stalls Farm Road in the town, and not over Coney Meadow! Seemed to settle and roost in the tall conifers.

    Evening stroll to Coney yesterday. 4 House Martins over. Grasshopper Warbler calling from canal opposite Coney. At last - caught the Hares on the grass bank opposite!

    20 - 30 Fieldfare in stubble off Copcut lane. Half a dozen Siskin in Alder behind DCW allotments. Redwing in trees over sunflower field. Huge 30 - 40 flocks of Chaffinch? in wildlife crop behind Salwarpe village.

    Good progress made this morning by the work party in the meadow. Saplings removed and hedges trimmed back. Same again next Monday all being well. Still plenty to do.

    The starlings leaving the reedbed in the morning is not quite as breath-taking as the evening murmuration although it is still quite something to see. As you approach Coney Meadow just before dawn, the birds can be heard calling and the volume increases as the sky gets lighter. Waves of birds...

    Breath-taking murmuration by the starlings over Coney Meadow this evening - from 3:45 till about 4:15. Bright skies for a change and unusually mild - 15 degrees C? Many, many more birds than any evening lately putting on a great show.

    Went down to the Meadow at about 7am today. Caught the starlings leaving at 8 - incredible sight and sounds! Cetti's calling near the screen. Barn Owl hunting over the rough grass.

    Large numbers of starlings roosting in Coney Meadow this afternoon. Fairly impressive murmuration against the clear sky but all over by 3:45 pm. Well worth a trip down there but wear your boots!

    Here's my attempt to catch an image of the Brambling disguising itself as a sunflower head - plus a rather confused looking Buzzard in amongst the Woodpidgeons. It's been a fab week for watching in and around Coney!

    Tree creeper and Nuthatch in the large oak at the East end of Coney this morning. Incredible colours on the oak leaves at the moment. 100+ Pied Wags yesterday evening over Coney getting ready to roost. Lots of activity in the Churchfields sunflowers in the mornings - Brambling, Chaffinch, GSW etc
