    another Mongolian Gull AJ87 seen at Paotaiwan Park in Shanghai was ringed as an adult female at Terchijn Tsagaan Nuur west (48°08' N, 99°37' E) last summer (19/05/2012) so she's travelled 2623km from her breeding colony

    Forgot to say,the young lady posted the bird in her blog and asked for help.She released the bird but it stayed in the tree in her backyard for a whole night.She worried that it would be hurt by cat etc so caught it back.Then a local birder who is a journalist went to her house to help release...

    Everyone focusing on nests of eg. FP should notice Jay,Blue Magpie etc.They can learn to follow photographers to find the nests and hatchlings and once the photographers leave they'll kill the hatchlings.

    At Nonggang NR in Guangxi Fairy Pitta makes a nest just on the rock face with almost no cover--15~20m behind the villager's house. The ornithologists took very good videos till the chicks left the nest.We saw the nest in late June:) Back from Tibet/Xinjiang and will soon go to hug Spooners in...

    many south china residents/summer breeders appear now and then along the coast ESP. In spring. Last spring I saw it in Rudong in apr and then saw it again in yangshan island the first time I met jocko. It,s also been recorded in nanhui in apr maybe.

    Hi Mark If u'r interested in gulls,Paotaiwan Park is often the best in Shanghai city,where even a female Scoter was seen last winter.
