As always Mark ... very amusing and interesting read. Love some of the shots both environmental and birds. That White-browed Tit-Warbler is something special !

This I do NOT believe ! Not with McMadd on the flight - at least a 2 hour delay is de rigueur :eek!:

Don't tell me that Dev !!! I've been looking all over for those Amurs - surely they'll pass back through there on their way North again ? Or maybe if I remember correctly their migration path is actually a loop ?

It was even worse than the photos show Mark. Both sides of that path had had the vegetation removed, saplings had been broken off and twisted between trees to make perches and there was tons of rubbish everywhere. It is heart-breaking when we think back to what this little birding paradise was...

Can I put these in here for now to illustrate ? Mark walked round the whole day with a smile on his face wider than the mouth of the Yangtze !

Fun read as always. Enjoyed the shot of the GHL's 'insane eye' and the black naped oriele ! The Cockle Picker shot is a cracker. The height of our high season has seen me paying for my sins, added to the fact that the motor in my birding lens failed (so off to Japan for 2 months - wish I could...

Enthralling read and loved the pics - especially of the fairy (better add Pitta here otherwise people might get the wrong impression). I've seen some of the environmental trashing you depicted but luckily also saw them clean up afterwards, well somewhat, before they left. Still some way to go...

Ha ha I've just got back ... 4.25 hours and we'll find out how many tickets later ;) An amazing last day I'll give details of later - even the Chinese togs got very excited with one bird we saw, extremely rare they say (CLT aside), once I've found out what it was we saw I'll spill the beans ...

Exciting write-up ! The juices are flowing now. Black Baza, Greater Neck-laced, 4 x types of Kingfisher, Pheasant tailed Jacana and of course that delightful Fork Tailed Sunbird have all been added to my shooting list of Wuyuan's most photogenic birds. I'm glad I'm driving otherwise there is...

I remember one day last year my wife and I went to the Chongming Island Dong Tan wetland bird watch conservation area. We arrived pretty late, around 09.00 if memory serves, and failed to see a single crane, egret or duck from any of their excellent walkways and lookouts. Later on returning to...
