    Brief visit late pm (CLPs). Recent visits have often yielded 1 Little Egret, but today there were 3, not seen that many there for a while. Also good nos. of Redshank with 5 present. Couple of Common Terns.

    Brief visit early pm. Sandwich Tern seen on posts & shore on north east side of Camp Lane Pits. Seen at 2:45pm just as I was leaving. Poor phone scope photo, but you can tell what it is!

    Couple of hours around Camp Lane pits early pm. Goldeneye 1 m, c60 Shoveler, 6 Wigeon, c30 Gadwall, 8 Pochard, c30 Teal, c30 Pied Wagtails, c120 Fieldfare, c40 Redwing, 3 Oystercatcer, c150 Lapwing, c200 Canada Geese & GC Grebe 2.

    Called into Camp Lane Pits Sat pm (yesterday) between showers. Not much bird news of note, but loads of Black Tailed Skimmers. Inc one fresh emerged individual (still had glistening wings) which fell prey to a Pied Wagtail. The bird flew up from the causeway and caught the dragonfly in flight...

    Hobby 4, Common Tern 3, LRP 2, Redshank 2, Oystercatcher 2, Lapwing 6, Cuckoo h/o, Sand Martin c50, Yellow Wagtail 1, Sedge Warbler and a Hornet. The hobbies were feeding over the field on the west side of Camp Lane Pits, flying low over the low crop and close to the footpath. Magnificent!

    Highlight of the day was a female Ruff seen from 11:40 onwards on NE shore of main pool. Photo attached using phone held to scope. LRPs - 4 in two pairs on NW pool. The pairs kept apart and at 11:30 one of the pairs flew up and departed to the north. Redshank 4 & Lapwing 6. Wigeon 2...

    Late am/early pm visit. Wagon Lane Pits - 9 Sand Martin, 21 Wigeon, 5 Oystercatcher flying around calling as a group & 4 Treecreepers. Camp Lane Pits - Similar no of Sand Martins (poss same), 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Redshank, 8 Lapwing (in pairs not together), 1 Goosander (f), 1 Wheatear (m) & 1...

    Camp Lane Pits (early pm) 1 Otstercatcher, 1 Lapwing, 2 Stoechats (west edge), 20 Pocard, 25 Tufted Duck, c30 Teal, c20 Gadwall, 10+ Shoveler, 4 Wigeon, Reed Bunting, 25 Pied Wagtail. Little Grebes getting very vocal.

    Camp Lane Pits (pm) - male Goldeneye, 2 Stonechat (fence by NE pool), 2 Raven, 1 Barnacle Goose with the large flock of Canadas & 40 Gadwall. Wagon Lane Pits (pm) - 50 Gadwall, 25 Wigeon & 2 Bullfinch. I was looking for Merlin but wasn't as lucky as Laurie !
