    Regarding the evil dog, I've found that if you try to talk to him he barks and snarls, but if you look away or ignore him he's OK. Geoff

    I've seen this bird occasionally at Midd Lakes over the last 5 years and often wondered what it was. Thanks for the good photo. It looks like a drake Cape Shelduck to me, perhaps the same one that was seen on Dosthill Lake on 1/1/98. I have looked at various photos on flickr.com and it looks...
