    Another great visit to Middleton today. The reserve is teeming with Willow warblers, Reed Warblers and Sedge Warblers. Heard my first Grasshopper Warbler today and my first Cuckoo. Still lots of Cetti's Warblers and Chiffchaffs. Just the 13 Black-tailed Godwits, 4 Dunlin, 3 Avocet, 1 LRP, 2...

    Wonderful walk around the reserve this morning in glorious spring weather. Had 6 Black-tailed Godwits in breeding plumage; Sedge Warblers, lots of Willow Warblers, Blackcaps, heard the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, lots of Cetti's Warblers, a Wheatear and 2 Mediterranean Gulls flew in, 3...

    At last....after trying all spring and summer I have finally seen the Garganey! And the Snipe was the 99th species I have seen at Middleton, with Marsh Harrier being the 100th and Goosander the 101st! Rob

    Reasonably successful morning today. Lesser Whitethroat, Med Gull and Grasshopper Warbler. Also first Swifts of the year. Also got to see B-T Godwit and a pair of Linnets that had previously eluded me. Still plenty of Reed & Sedge Warblers singing.

    Steve, Thanks for that. I do question the fact that it's on the blog. I never look at the blogs for reserves on the web. I always look on the main page. A visitor from afar would probably never find it! Thereagain, the latest sightings page hasn't been updated since June 2015! Rob

    I managed to get good views of the Great White Egret yesterday at RSPB. It flew over the river but later returned.
